Extra set of Allocations ....

Didn't know if you all may know about this. Two of the people going are long time friends of mine...
"I've been getting pretty excited about my upcoming M2 European Delivery. But now that it's actually being built, the time has come to share the rest of the story of the #CentennialMTour.
I am not going alone.
We have organized a group European Delivery of 15 M cars: 11 M2s two M3s, and two M4s, (plus one 2002 Touring tagging along) with a total of 32 people going on the Tour. I started coordinating this 2 1/2 years ago as a spiritual successor to the M Tour 2002. At first, it was planned for a group of key customers from a BMW dealer, plus some of our 2002 group back for our second "once-in-a-lifetime" experience. Circumstances changed, and it evolved into a BMW CCA-only group with a limited number of cars available. Ultimately, BMW NA President Ludwig Willisch was persuaded last Fall to approve our "extra" allocation of hard-to-get M2s. BMW dealers will still get the same number of M2s as planned, but ours were added in time to fulfill this dream.
And here is our plan:
BMW IN MUNICH
BMW Museum visit (special 100th Anniversary displays)
Private Tour of Milbertshofen Factory (M engines and M4s built)
Private Tour of BMW Welt (including underground prep area)
Private Tour of BMW Classic (new home of BMW's treasures, not open to the public)
Private Tour at BMW M (meet M2 project manager, see M Studio)
Group photo at BMW Welt
BREAK-IN DRIVING IN THE ALPS
Neuschwanstein Castle
Epic roads and tunnels, mountain passes, spectacular scenery
Italian Dolomite mountains
Famous Stelvio Pass for group photo
Swiss Alps: Jungfrau, Eiger, etc.
MUSEUM TOURS
Porsche Museum
Mercedes Benz Museum
Sinsheim Transportation Museum (Concorde, vintage F1, military vehicles)
3 RACETRACKS
Nürburgring Public Lap day
Zandvoort Circuit (Dutch F1 GP track until 1985)
Private track day at Spa-Francorchamps (Eau Rouge!)
COVERAGE
Roundel story August or September issue
Via Corsa cover story Summer issue (distributed at Legends of the Autobahn)
Professional track/drone video for YouTube
Facebook and Instagram updates #CentennialMTour

Special thanks to BMW CCA's Frank Patek and Tim Brecht from BMW of Escondido for helping to make our dream possible. Most of us will also reunite in Monterey in August for #CelebrateBMW"

That is definitely going to be an amazing trip.It looks like your itinerary is different than what the Canadian M2 trip is doing. What is the date of your trip?

Have fun and drive the cars in good health.

Is a roadmap available ?

According to my information, the 'Stelvio Pass' (Stilfser Joch / Passo dello Stelvio) and nearby passes (Timmelsjoch, Gavia Pass, Umbrail Pass) are still closed as we speak ('Wintersperre' = Winter closure). See the webcam pictures below and you'll understand why.

Also in the Swiss Alps several famous passes are still closed this time of the year (such as the Furka Pass, Gotthard Pass, Grimsel Pass, Klausen Pass, Süsten Pass, Nufenen Pass).

I highly recommend to keep an eye on real time mountain passes info in order to avoid unexpected detours: click this link http://www.alpenpaesse.co/ and select the country map to get a status update.

The past couple of years admin Dackelone drove the Alps annually together with 1Addicts Alps enthusiasts (apart from several personal journeys):

Also be aware of Nurburgring Public lap days. If those are the regular "Touristenfahren" days, they are total mayhem and also can cause serious headaches as you will also be not only running with cars, but also bikes will be on the track as well. Some drivers also run like they are competing for a trophy at the end of the Gantry.

There are some good videos on what to and not to do on the track. I would recommend that they check them out.

I second what Artemis and Elsabor67 have said. A lot of these Alpine Passes do not open up until mid June.

Here is a picture of what the Timmelsjoch Hochalpenstrasse AG ie: Solden(Sölden), Austria looked like on May 4th. Timmelsjoch Pass is still closed I believe.

'Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road' or 'Passo Rombo':
"The Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road is open daily from 7 am until 8 pm.
Due to the exposed high-elevation terrain, driving over the mountain pass is only possible between approximately the beginning of June and the end of October."

Those passes are totally passable. You just need to be more Canadian.

I really wanted to do this. Would have lined up with a big wedding anniversary. I could not get ANY BMW dealerships, or the guys with the tour group to secure an allocation in time. And we would have had to pay for the trip completely without knowing if a car would be made available by May 21. Glad a "secret private BMWCCA" group got allocations.

That sounds like an epic trip. I did a lot of that stuff (sans the private tours) when I did ED last year on my F80, it was great.
