Can someone explain the quote I got?
I'm new to leasing, and I'm trying to wrap my head around why I got such a high quote for an M2. I was told it would be $10k over MSRP (I would never actually go for it marked up like that) but I wanted to know what the lease payments would estimate to. He came back with $1300/mth plus $3k due at signing!! This is 36 month @ 10k miles/yr.
I don't understand how it could possibly shoot up that high... could someone explain? I got a quote a few days ago for an m235i, $618/month including tax, $780 down.... vehicle price at $47.5k. How did $5k additional MSRP + a $10k markup turn $618 -> $1300? |

Possibly marking up money factor on you. Adding in a bunch of fees. You are omitting a lot of information but based on the $10k surcharge, the quote comes as no surprise.

I suppose what I should be asking is, what are the best deals people have seen with leases so far? The thread re: deals is all discussion, I didn't see much in terms of actual numbers..

That's probably the most ridiculous deal I've ever seen. That's seems like pricing for a $90,000 lease.
With $2,500 down, you could get a base M5 ($95,000 MSRP) for $1,188 with 15,000 miles. Tell him to go pound sand. |

its because 1) the residual is bad on m2 to start and 2) the residual is off of msrp and the 10k markup is being split between the 36 payments. that $277 plus interest increase per month

There are multiple threads on this that explain that the M2 residual is horrible. You can lease an M235 or an m3 or m4 for far cheaper. Why ? # Because BMW would rather sell you an any of those three over an M2. PS.. Don't pay a 10k markup either ... |

Best numbers I have seen are in the $850 plus range. If you've got corporate lease dollars go right Ahead otherwise just start looking for loan rates or try BMW owners choice. Even with corporate money, you'll be able to negotiate a far better deal on an M4 so.... |

The M2 is a bad lease deal because of the low residuals but when a dealer adds 10k to the deal it gets really ugly. Short of being able to write off the lease on your taxes it will be better to buy until the residuals improve. I suspect that will be a year, pretty much all new models have terrible residuals because there is no resale history. For the most part you can lease an m3 for what an M2 lease will cost.
