In all seriousness, it really doesnt matter.

The vast majority of cars have DPF's and as such theres a huge reduction in emissions. Someone removing a DPF is a tiny minority case and simply doesnt make a dent. A 330d with no DPF fitted is still cleaner than the crap coming out the back of an older derv like my Trooper, and the govt dont care much about the older cars on the road, because they know that they're already in the minority.

The biggest issue is likely folk buying diesels when their drive cycle isnt really suited to one. But with the modern small turbo petrols coming along, hopefully that will fade a bit.

Don't see what the problem is tbh. All new diesels come with one. If you take it out, it's your mistake.

It's like those guys that take the cat out of their petrol car, and then moan when their MOT tester wont pass them...

Said this on several posts last year re DPF removal etc. when posts were popped up its been brewing for some time the rules are getting tighter and spot checks on garages known to of passed a blatant DPF removal vehicle are also taking place and licences have been removed for those garages openly flouting the rule as well

The particles being emitted are lethal and even the newest engines are spewing out dangerous carcinogens. From what I've read even the soot is thought to be bad if breathed in. If they weren't already so widespread in use they'd be made illegal.
From what I read the newest engines were still producing particles so small they weren't being caught and they are lodging in people's lungs causing tumors.

Just for the record, my DPF hasn't been removed, and won't be either

Without diesel engines the country would come to a standstill. They need to concentrate on making dpf systems more affordable I would say

How does one define "sporty"?

Some would suggest no 3-series could fulfill that monkier.

You could suggest a 335i is no sportier than a 330d. They're both large, heavy saloon cars with half decent performance. One just happens to use a different fuel. They both handle and drive like large heavy saloon cars.

Everything is subjective. If all you've ever driven is a 1.2 Corsa, a 330d probably feels very sporty. If your last car was a V10 R8, a 335i probably isnt very sporty at all.

A diesel commercial vehicle is a necessary evil, I own a diesel transit van so I do my bit for messing up people's lungs.
It's just M Sport & diesel don't, IMO go together.
When I had my M5 you couldn't buy a M badge unless you owned a M car, hey ho I suppose times have changed.

The joys of modern marketing bods BM cheapening the M, VW with their R badges R and Rline, Audi with their S and Sline etc etc

Cheapen the badges and make them sell through.
