Her man was being attacked by 2 guys and a third or more about to jump in. Her pulling that gun may have saved his life.

BMW wasn't even in the wrong from the beginning, he was trying to get out of the way of the guy in the left lane after he realized he was closing in on him fast. How was he supposed to react to a guy on bike trying to suddenly pass him at 100 in the right lane who punches his car window.

Yep. She definitely saved him from a worse beating than he got (and from guys wearing armored riding gloves, natch, which have been ruled as deadly weapons in court in several states).

And yep: the guy in the 5 Series was not at fault. At all. Those riders have done that before as a group; you can tell by how they impeded the BMW at the stoplight (and I've seen it in person, too) and slowed down to corner the BMW before that.

As a former avid motoryclist, it's arses like these riders -- the kind that think any paved road is their own personal race / riding trick track, and anybody getting in their way, whether intentionally or not, is involved in a personal attacking on their life -- that give the rest of us a bad name.

The thing is, yahoos like these are so clueless and careless about their mortality and societal order that they don't realize the simple fact that by riding -- particularly at superlegal speeds while breaking several other laws -- they are at a severe disadvantage versus everything else on the road. Hell: a squirrel, or a large rock in the road, can kill you.

I'm not normally a person who wishes ill will on others, but in this case ... natural selection, man. Natural selection.

Matter of intent. I have had people purposely change lanes to get in the way of the faster traffic because they want to act like the police. Not saying this was the BMW's intent in this video.

The only thing I can put blame for sure on the BMW driver is to chase after them instead of just brushing it off and letting it go.

I don't think this was necessarily the case; it's difficult to tell from the footage because it's edited, with blocks missing. I distinctly noted, however, that the rate of speed on the guy with the helmet cam slowed considerably after the 'car punch', and the two riders that parked in front of the BMW at the intersection were already there when the BMW arrived -- and they were not run into, though it's possible the BMW driver said something to them. Finally, keep in mind that this is presented from the point of view of the riders, who, as was demonstrated, already have several screws loose upstairs.

Bottom line for me is that the riders were breaking the law in a heinous manner, including the punch at the BMW and the initial shove of the driver. The BMW driver wasn't. I'm sorry, but no one can make any excuse for the riders' behavior to me. They deserved to have that gun drawn on 'em.

I hate dickheads who think they're going to be cops. The BMW guy was wrong for approaching them. He should have called a cop. Stay right here my ass. The gun was drawn appropriately but a little prematurely. It's legal to draw if you feel your life is in danger, not your ass getting kicked. But I guess she was concerned he was and she didn't fire so no harm no foul. Looks like road to the keys. BMW guy was trying to do the right thing moving over. But then he got the I'm gonna show these kids attitude. Just call the cops. Your ass won't be kicked on camera and they'll get arrested and bikes taken if they're breaking 100 mph. Dope.

Are you kidding? Cops can't catch bikes. Many law enforcement agencies have rules against even pursuing a rider on a sportbike. Why? Three reasons: it endangers the public, the success rate is virtually zilch, and the biggest one: it endangers the rider. And you did notice the blurred parts of the video? That wasn't the thing going out of focus; that was done to hide license plate numbers. Please.

Look at my initial post, where I say that armored riding gloves have been ruled as deadly weapons in several states. His life was in danger, and she likely feared for her own. She did the right thing.

I've drawn twice. I would have yelled at them first and drawn if they continued. It was legal. As for gloves being weapons that's silly but oh well.

I don't wanna come across as justifying the bike rider's behavior, they are obviously driving like idiot's. Regarding the gun though I am pretty sure this would be considered a crime even under the circumstances. Florida as most know has a stand your ground law but it is not as cut and dry as you might think. Once the driver of the BMW removed himself from his car he was engaging in conflict. Now if he remained in his car and was punched he or the passenger could have pulled out the gun or even fired upon the person. The gun laws are not to protect you from starting a fight then using your gun if you start to get your ass beat. I am resident of Florida and a legally armed citizen this subject is covered extensively in any gun permit class. I personally believe the guy in the BMW only confronted a bunch of guys on motorcycles because he felt secure in the fact he had a gun in his car. Like others have stated he should have called the police and let them deal with this situation, a simple tag number and phone call.

Lol @ the guy that comes from behind yelling 'we got a fucking problem.' What a pussy. Acts all tough walking up to the guy with his air lats, but when the crazy lady comes out of the car with a gun, he's suddenly the farthest away from her out of the group. Too bad they didn't get run over by the driver like a Land Rover did to a bike gang a while back. Driver should've just called the cops instead of trying to be a cop poser.

Some motorcyclist are douchebags for no reason. It's the adrenaline rush and thrill.

Just love each other, share the road, and be normal. Then these incidents wouldn't need to happen.

SYG IS pretty cut and dried. If YOU feel your life is in danger you can fire. Simple as that.

But I don't think SYG would apply here. He'd already been attacked. One of "them" threw the first punch. Now it would appear it's simply self-defense.

Now if that (self-defense) would apply to the wife as well,,,,,,,, I'm not sure but I expect it would have.

Perhaps you could post a link to the pertinent facts vis-a-vis your gun permit class ?
