this seems like it would power the vehicle cleanly

Just need some AWG 6 or 8 with clips at the end?

after browsing some more, I think if you buy these,

http://www.coastaltoolsupply.com/product/MDT-A104.html

now you've pretty much got one of these?

Or you take a set of jumper cables and cut one side off, and screw the wires into the lugs....unless I'm missing something, you've got a unit for about $200, instead of $400-$500.....

The real question is how stable does it deliver the power to keep our precious nannies of modules alive during programming.

based on the specs, it's clean power.

Also, it appears to be similar to this, without the carrying bag and cables. Also states a <1% return rate.

It's just weird that in this day and age, something could be sold for $500+, then you can buy the individual component for $170. It's all marketing and packaging. Just like we see it more and more, $2.88 each, or $11.89 for two (this is a real example, wheel chocks on amazon)

I get it, you do not want the voltage to go up when more current is drawn, it needs to be regulated. These things are OEM in RVs, but the specs speak for themselves...
