Anyone have any experience of the manual
Would appreciate any feedback on the manual box. My wife insists she prefers a manual change and has been reading about lag on auto box

I have the 6 gear automatic (not the the 8 gear new one). I have been driving automatic for long and also a very good (and well-known) implementation from TOYOTA. I am very satisfied with the automatic gear! You barely notice the changes and it never leaves you without power even in ECO MODE PRO, low speed and in ascents.

Yes we had a manual 18d sport for a month or so. I only drove it a couple of times and it seemed ok to me, but Mrs W who came out of a manual MINI wasn't that keen on the car as a manual and we chose the auto for our own X1.
I have to say neither of us has noticed the lag that others have reported.

I own the X1 18i manual, honestly I have no issues with it. Very smooth especially while shifting down. You just need to be carefully while changing from 1st to second maybe sometimes it's a bit rough until u get used to the timing to change the 1st gear. Otherwise no issues at all. i had to drive the active tourer for 4 days manual before receiving the X1 and the manual gearbox is absolutely crap, I was worried that the X1 manual would be the same but luckily it ended up to be very good. |
