GM pays $908M USD in Chinese Taxes, $5M in the US.

I guess the Chinese government will be lining up to bail them out in the next recession, closely after Mexico.

"The carmaker paid just $5 million in federal taxes last year, its SEC filings show. For its total federal, state and local bill, all in, it booked zero taxes, the filings show. Meantime, in 2015, GM paid more than $908 million in taxes to China."

How much did it pay in federal employment tax, social security, and medicaid? How much did its suppliers pay in those taxes, dealerships, independent repair shops, auto part stores, ice cream vendors, Starbucks...

you get my point.

And China must have a high foreign corporate tax rate...

It's called import tax. Those don't happen for GM in the States. Also, I thought it was pretty cool to see that in Beijing/Shanghai probably 1/5 of the cars are Buicks.

As long as they are paying what is required by law I don't blame the corporations for it.

I only pay exactly what is required, not a dollar more.
