Gearbox remap

Am considering a gearbox remap, has anyone done this? Apperantly it will give me a increased red line, faster shifts & launch control, which could be excellent for Santa pod.
Any fed back would be appreciated. Thanks

Don't believe anyone has deciphered the transmission flashes yet but I could be wrong.
Would be nice to have more control over it's settings but traction and tyres is where the most gains are to be made. Probably for a comparable cost as well.

Being able to hold it at redline on gears in manual mode would be amazing!

Is it not possible to do the alpina transmission flash on my '09 330i? Or is it just the 335i?

The only company I can openly think of who've gone beyond the normal remapping route and looked at the possibilities surrounding the gearbox and its ECU are DMS Automotive www.dmsautomotive.com/ DMS have been around a fair while now they develop things in house but and this is the big but in terms if price they are somewhat higher than many, but if they've got a gearbox product tried, tested and proven thats been bought to market then thats the choice you've got. If you look under performance upgrades on their home page they state amongst the various brands they do BMW aid ine they offer a package for.

They've seemed to if grasped there some mileage in looking at the gearbox ECU as well as the engine ECU, Ideal with a coupling of company's in my line of work who re map ECU, which in this day and age is nothing out of the ordinary however both have stated very clearly that mapping the gearbox is a different bag, therefore nothing product wise has been been released. Why after all these years but it would seem it's far more complicated than the engine side of things.

It might seem amazing but our cars don't like redline. They choke. Power drops off after about 5600 rpm. So there's not much use in revving really high if it's about power.

Yes it did use to be around £500, when they quoted me £195 I thought for that money it would be rude not to have it done. I haven't had a chance as yet to have a proper drive of it, am going out this morning as it's dry & sunny. Normal driving i couldn't feel much difference

Be interesting to see feedback. The one thing I hate about this gearbox is how lethargic it is off the line.

I've looked at this previously and some people are of the opinion that they just reset the auto memory

Gear changes are quicker & smoother, more pull from 1st to 4th. More torque in 3rd & changes into 4th later, 5th & 6th I couldn't tell you about under hard acceleration as I would have been going stupidly fast.
Seems to get the power down better when pulling away, it used to get away well, then kind of bog down a bit & then go, now the acceleration is totally linear with no noticeable lag at all.
Seems to be smother around town.
Kick down has changed, driving at 50 in auto when you floor it, it now drops down into 2nd, then straight up into 3rd, whereas before it would just go down to 3rd (not sure I like it doing that).
When I took it out this morning for an enthusiastic drive, town (driving slowly) duel carriageway, motorway & country lanes it retuned 23mpg, normally on that drive I get 19mpg.
Am looking forward to seeing how much faster it will go over 1/4 mile on my next visit to Santa pod.
I would totally recommend getting this done, especially as it's only £195
