Shell 5w30 Engine Oil

Hi all,
I have recently bought the oil in the link below as I got a good deal on it. But I have now learnt that it is for Ford and JLR spec engines, the BMW one is slightly different.

Would this still be okay to use in my 2008 330i (N53) engine?
As I see it I dont have a dpf to worry about low ash content and I dont need long-life oil as I change my oil every year or 8,000 miles.

Link to the oil:

Thanks

I thought it was 5w30 fully synthetic that was needed at the minimum. LL04 rated.

Yeah this oil is 5w30 fully synthetic but it's not LL04 rated.
But then I thought LL04 was just for long life use?

As far as I know, the reason some oils don't have manufacturers ratings is that they just haven't been specifically tested/reviewed, not that it won't meet the requirements. The grade is right so just use it.

According to Shell's website, there are two Shell products that are acceptable alternatives for your car:

Yeah I guess it hasn't gone through the "BMW tests" but it's good quality stuff so might as well use it

Ah so they initially recommend 5w40, and then an AM-L spec.

AF doesn't seem to be listed so might end up doing more harm than good.

I might just sell this oil on then and get the Castrol, that's recommended by BMW anyway.

Out of interest what do you use in your N53?
