New F23 M235i - Light Mods Started!

So, I finally got to get it out of the garage. But, too cold to wash. Sorry for the delivery muck on the front. I drove a little, trying hard to keep it under 4,500 RPM and warming up slow. Has 650 miles after I drove it home.

I'm starting with some easy mods and a few more to come.

1. MP grilles (the third set I've done and the easiest so far; 20 minutes to remove both and no tabs broken!)
2. MP pedals on their way (a nice thank you from the dealer!)
3. BSM mirror caps on their way, but I'm not hating the ferric with the BSM; time will tell
4. Will likely paint the OE rear diffuser BSM. Easy to remove and take in.
5. Painted reflectors, front at least. Has anyone had theirs painted instead of the $85 at IND? Not that it's a huge amount, just curious.

Not that this is that special of a car compared to what others have done; just sharing. Came out of a 650 coupe and some X5s so this car just feels great so far.

Nice.

I just did the grilles on mine this weekend right after picking up the car. I'm glad I didn't pay to have them port installed.

Continuing the process, added the M Perf pedals and black sapphire mirror covers. Oh, and "dog is my co-pilot" perfect fit dog bed. This is smaller than she would prefer, but will keep her in place! The seatbelt straps through the bottom of the bed.

Get some BMW all season floor mats. They're better quality than the OE mats and they photograph better.

Do the pedals require drilling to install?

Yes. 3 holes through metal on brake pedal and 2 holes into plastic on gas pedal. No problem if you have even basic skills. There are a lot of DIY threads on here, and this is easy.

Funny you mention this. Our dealer offered free all season mats and I turned them down because we won't drive this most of the year. I see you're in metro MSP. We are almost straight east of you in north MI. I got free pedals instead. More impact, but I get your point.

I got both of them free and other accessories with a $500 gift card from the dealer for purchasing the car! So no choices needed.

Straight East of us places you on the cold side of most population centers doesn't it.

Northern Michigan. Still waiting for a full thaw! Snow is supposed to come back this week but hope it doesn't last long! RWD, Michelin PSS and snow will not be a combo for me to play with.

I may look for a set of the rubber mats; not sure I want the red border though. Might be nice to find a blue border to match my dash trim, but I don't think that exists.

Adding OE rear lip spoiler (fingers crossed it fits!) then painting diffuser and adding M Perf chrome tips. Nothing crazy.

Humbly suggest considering the very well proportioned MPerformance spoiler over the M235i version which is quite modest.

Yeah I know. I'm concerned about fit on the vert. There's extra stuff going on with the trunk end. We'll see how it looks. We have a brake light and 2 antennae to deal with so not sure how the lines will blend.

May I ask how you installed the grills? Did you remove the weather stripping and unscrew from the top to release the first grill?

Got the rear lip spoiler. Set in place (not taped yet) and it appears to be the same as the coupe; just a little short of the trunk lid edges (maybe 1/4"?).

I hit a stop on the exhaust though. I removed the OE black tips and there is a pin on the exhaust pipe to clock the intermediate pipe. But the intermediate pipe doesn't have the "key slot" so it won't go on. Can't do the MP chrome tips without the intermediate pipes on the OE exhaust. Anyone else do this?

The lip spoiler looks good.
