BMW CIC Navigation/Coding question

Ok so here is my situation. I have a 2009 E90 335i. When I first bought the car they guy mentioned something about the Nav screen blinking on and off. Anyways over time it completely went out. My battery was replaced shortly after. My buddy has the same 2009 335i as me and I used his screen to see if it worked and it did. So I'm like okay great the screen unit is bad and I have to order a new one. Well I'm on my 3rd CIC navigation screen unit and I have not been able to get it to turn on(black screen)

My question is do I have to code the CIC unit to the "new" CIC screen unit?

The navigation screen is from a 2011 E92 M3, with CIC Navigation. I mean shouldn't this work???? The guy even showed me the unit was good and %100 working. I'm so lost with answers and need some input.

Have you checked your fuse?

If you don't have the fuse diagram behind your glovebox, try this one. There are so many different variations. If you have the chart, I think you're looking for the fuses that are listed next to the white screen.

Ok so since I've posted this I have replaced all fuses with new ones that have to do with the navigation HU and CIC display. I also replaced the fuse on the back of the head unit as well. Still nothing. Black screen radio and audio still works. Anything else I can check for???

I want to try to recode the unit. What program do you use to recode the CIC unit? I see a lot of people using tools 32. Where can I download this program and a diy for coding the CIC unit?

It is very strange to say that your friends CICD screen works but the ones you bought doesn't. I also doubt the coding the CIC would have any effect to the display.

Try to check the connections. back of the Head unit Etc..

I agree it's very strange, I don't get it. It's so frustrating. The reason I want to try and recode is maybe upgrading the firmware or software for the CIC navigation will do something to make it work again. I don't know I'm so lost for any kind of answer as to why it's doing this. After having a loaner for a week while my car was in getting my turbos replaced made me realize how much I really miss the convenience of navigation and Bluetooth. Grrrrr

You still have a lot of uncertainty - that's what is frustrating, so....
I would go buy your buddy a case of his favorite beer and ask another favor(s):
1. Try the screen you bought in his car - although if it doesn't work there its not a 100% its bad, only that you might be right about something else being needed
2. Try his in yours again - to make sure nothing has changed and your head still works.

Good Luck
Bruce

There are a couple codes related to resolution etc but don't think it's the coding.

It looks like the iDrive unit itself has an issue.

Try defaulting the CID module with a profile that has manipulation turned off.

Question, is there anyway or anyone who can remote connect to my computer while I have it connected to my car who can help me troubleshoot this problem?

This is correct. With the exception of 6VA.

Yes. TeamViewer is perfect for this.
