It will be marginal.
I've got one and it gives a tiny bit more noise but will help if remapped.

My friend has one for sale. Its 2nd hand but only £30 iirc

Not to be blunt. The mod scene for the n54 is huge. Panel filters are for corsas. Easy money gets you 400hp.

Iv been in the modified car scene many years and spanked thousands on my previous car, don't want to go down this route on my e92, just want something subtle
Not one for 2 cone filters just plonked in the engine bay looking lost

there's always debate if cone's actually make any difference either...BMS claim 15hp...but I'd take that with a pinch of salt.

My opinion...would be as follows

MHD flasher is a must (JB4 depends on your plans to run meth)
Downpipes
Charge pipe
intercooler
OCC

If you don't already run a BEF then that's where to start! The MHD flasher is fantastic...and you wont get a cheaper 50-60 HP!

Unless you plan to do other mods I'd just stick to the OE filter personally as you really won't notice any difference with just that upgrade.

If you really want to though then I might have an aftermarket panel filter in the OE airbox I've got stored in the garage as I have the BMS DCI's fitted.

Iv already order the cable ready for the mhd flasher, how does the fuel economy suffer from the introduction of mods?

Much worse as the more power you add the more you put your foot down
