Launch car incoming

Called a small dealer today a couple hours away to see if they had a list. Sales guy told me they had a launch car on the way that is available. I about fell out of my chair. Put a deposit down and now the wait begins. I was told the car shipped on 1/30 and is due at port 2/11. My sales rep didn't know how long it will sit at port. Here I was thinking I wouldn't have an M2 until August or September now I should have one in March.

Mine is on schedule to arrive at the end of february/mid March, but it seems that BMW won't let us drive our launch cars home until April 16th. Makes me mad.

Are they gonna hold the car at the dealer?

Honestly I have no idea.

Seems like everything dealing with the M2 for the last 2 years, including this ordering process now, is filled with doubts, mystery, and uncertainty.

Frankly, its really starting to piss me off.

Are you gonna be okay with them displaying it in the showroom? I found a launch car but the dealer wants to hold onto it for 30 days....but I can't buy a car and then let people sitting and touching it..

I am not okay with people sitting in it. I don't give two shits if they touch it. But I just want my car ASAP and it's so frustrating if this turns out to be the case.

There is no reason they need to keep the car in the showroom for 30 days - they don't need it on hand to sell to casual shoppers. At most I would allow them to keep it for one week and ensure that it is locked at all times. One week should allow them to call any clients and get them in to see the car. 30 days is completely unnecessary.

In my initial call I asked my sales, "Since this is a launch car do they need to display it or anything." He said "no." Stated that when they get the car I can come pick it up. Just relaying what I was told. Driving weather in Michigan sucks until late March, so I'm not in a hurry.

Do you understand perhaps why I have been so involved in trying to let people know what's happening??

This is not LIVE , this is Memorex.

Relax. Because you are getting a car. You are way ahead of so many others. Don't expect your car prior to the launch date. Shipping will take much more than 3 to 5 weeks to get here and the cars will all be held at the VDC before they get shipped to their dealers a week or so ahead of the launch date.

I saw a Muhammad Ali quote recently....

" I hated every minute of training , but I said, Don't Quit! Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion. "

When you get your car it will be worth it!

Too true ! and great news

Spare us a thought overhere in the UK. Some of us have been on the waiting list since way back when and most scheduled deliveries are mid Summer onwards with some people being # 1 on the list with delivery Oct/Nov.

probably going to happen in the US as well...

oh wait.. we have " unlimited production " for the US...

I wouldn't be surprised if BMW NA declared that 1500 a year will come to the US.
That would be DOUBLE the production of 1M... but still would leave a lot of people in line for LCI

Anyone know what the LCI 2 series is going to look like? I guess LED tails and modified headlamps?
