Looking good

Know it's a bit late but in this cold weather you need to use a hairdryer etc to warm up the clips first.

Changed mine last week too. So much for the 10 minutes max. suggested. With my large hands it was quite difficult but I eventually managed it without any broken clips.

Do the insurance companies classify this as a modification to notify them about?

Ive told them and it increased my premium by about £8. Not worth not declaring it on a 20k+ car for saving a tiny bit!

Same here, adding "exterior decorative changes" adds <£10 & adding "suspension lowered <5cm" adds another <£10

So for around £1.50pm for both it's insane not to add them!

You don't need to inform them. It could be that you scratched one and had them replaced with a genuine bmw replacement that is different colour.

That looks good.

Are you doing anything else black?

I have the same car as you and a year on still can't make my mind up about grills, mirrors etc.

Depends, on youtube videos it shows the guy opening the bonnet and removing the screws that hold on the front bumber and prising it forward and popping the clips from the rear. I did try that and maybe I was too scared to bend the bumper too far but I couldn't get enough room to even get my small hands in from the back. I ended up just poking my fingers in from the front of the grill and undoing the clips that way, tricky for a start but once you get one or two of the clips popped the rest are easier. The second grill is a doddle as you just put your arm through the open grill you've just removed and pop the clips from the back. If your careful you can do it without breaking the clips on the originals.
