Is the thermostat covered under CPO

Yesterday my e92 went limp mode. Towed it to the dealer and they told me that they have to replace water pump and thermostats and then do a coolant flush. While the water pump was covered under warranty for no doubt, they charge me 680 dollars for a thermostats and coolant flush.

Are those supposed to be covered under CPO warranty? Any input would help.

Thermostat is not covered.

When my pump failed I was under CPO. Majority of the time thermostat is ok but they like to replace it since they are already down there. Oh and they will feed you things such as "it will need replacing soon anyways, so might as well do it since we are there".

I was able to get them to replace mine no labour cost. Bought my own thermostat. Keep in mind SA was a cool guy.

You should only be paying for the part, not labour.
They are overcharging.
Argue they would have to remove it anyway to replace the pump. And do the flush anyway. So the thermostat is only a part that you may pay for if not covered.

Looks like they bent you over and gave it to ya, real hard.

Had my waterpump go out under CPO. I asked what it would cost to replace the thermostat while they were at it, they said just part cost since its right there next to the pump. Part cost was about $100-$150.

They didn't charge me for coolant or a flush either since the system was drained to replace the water pump.

The thermostat is about 130 and a coolant flush the most should be 200-280 stealership prices

I just talked to SA. He quote me $270 for half an hour labor for thermostat and thermostat itself, $215 for the coolant flush. That's ridiculous

You should only be paying for thermostat. I paid around $150, three years ago.

Another thing to keep in mind, when they say flush MAKE SURE it's an actual coolant flush where they rinse your whole cooling system with water.

Many times these shady techs that work there are paid as 'piece work' so they will bill you full time for flush and actually only top up what ever coolant was lost during the water pump change. This technique allows the tech to bill hours for your job but actually start another job and make more money.

That is ridiculous. When my thermostat went out due to the previous owner of the car not swapping it out while the water pump went out I only paid 120 for the coolant flush and install and 90 for a oem thermostat itself on eBay from a dealer ship in florida

He's right about that. Make sure they flush the radiator out to they do usually just top it off
