E90 330D Promap
Evening guys,
Newbie here, I recently purchased myself a manual E90 330D (57 Plate). I have read numerous posts regarding re-maps on all models and people recommending certain companies. A garage near where Im from are offering re-maps for £170 as an xmas offer, my question to you is firstly, has anybody had a re-map from promap tuning before, if so do you recommend them, especially for the price of £170? Secondly, is a more expensive map 'better' than a cheaper map. What is the difference between a top of the range map and a map which isn't so top of the range or are they the exact same with slightly different end results? Not really sure on how they could be different. Thanks in advance! |

I don't have any experience with that company, however...there are generally 2 types of remap offered.
1. Generic Map - Generic map for your M57 engine. Usually created by an independent mapper and provide a decent balance of power / economy. 2. Custom Map - the mapper may start with a generic map and then tweak various limiters and parameters to get the most out of your car. They should also tweak certain aspects of the map to reflect the age and condition of the vehicle. This map will be tested either on the road or on a dyno to see results. #2 is faaaaar better - personally I wouldn't touch #1 which I'm guessing is what you will be offered for £170. |

If you are talking about Promap (aka James Simpson), then they're got a very good reputation and that offer is a bargain!
