AGHHH... Gutted !
Well I started off happy... secured a new job that is just one mile from my house with very occasional travel. Happy days, then i realised I own a E90 330D M Sport which I love, but it won't love that drive each day.
AGHHH !... this is like a silver cloud with a shyte lining ! So, I have tried to get something more suitable and settled on a Cooper S with Chilli pack and other bits. But to say i'm gutted is an understatement, the BM just ticked all the boxes and I love it... but can't justify keeping it now. Still the Mini does keep some traits from the BM and is made by the same company. Small comfort in a small car !. That's all then folks, been a pleasure and you guys have been great. |

1 mile and you drive? 1 mile and you drive and you buy a mini? I'd be looking for the most unpractical car with the biggest engine if I were you...and walk to work.

Yeah, that was my intention initially, also considered a motorbike.... but then the route is so unfriendly it doesn't lend itself to walking or push bike. Plus i'm a lazy b*stard, cold, wet miserable British winters don't sit well with me.
A catapult might do it though ! |

No car is going to be happy doing 1 mile each way.
Engine wont even begin to get warm. How can it not be possible to walk/push bike that? If it must be a car, get something electric. G-Whiz? :P |

1 Mile to work would be an absolute dream, opens the door for just about any car. I'd bike/walk it then have the car of your choice, i.e by the sounds of things just keep your 330D.
A 1 mile trip would do nothing but harm to the car and especially the DPF would clog up if it wasn't taken for a good long journey once in a while. What's so unfriendly about the route for walking/biking? Just invest in some GOOD wet weather/warm clothing and your laughing! Driving wouldn't even cross my mind for that short trip. I'd be walking to work and buying a f++koff huge v8 / v10.
I bought my 335i when my daily commute halved, because I could afford to run it then, haha! |

Hi OP. I am also very lucky that I live about one mile from my place of work. That is exactly the reason I bought myself a 335i.
I cycle pretty much every day apart from if I'm using the car just before or after work. I try and take the car for a good run when I can & enjoy not having to worry about MPG! |

I walk to work, it takes me about the same number of seconds my 335i takes 0-60.
But my leisure pursuits mean I drive , on average, 17k per year. 335i is doable, a more extravagant car I could not afford |

I live 3 miles from work and own a 330d, I don't see what the problem is personally?!
Drive it to work and drive it home. Then just give it a good thrashing at the weekend, or go the long way a couple of times a week. I've had mine for about 2.5 years and not had any problems regarding short drives. Edit: I can't bike or I would do in decent weather, its on a countryside A road which is narrow and very dangerous for cycling, just not worth the risk |

I do 12 miles per day. That includes going home for lunch. I did have a diesel and doing 35mpg with my short journeys. Had to get a 335i as only get 20/25mpg now but I'm a very happy man. The best move ever.

There's these things. Coats and umbrellas. They work wonders. Should be walking to work.
Surely keep the car OP so you have something for shopping trips, weekends and other journeys. Just get the dpf pulled.
