Just bought an e90

On the passenger door panel the handle piece of the panel has become goopy.

Can I get just the handle somewhere or do I need to replace the entire panel?

it depends on which part of handle is damaged, if it is upper part, it is removable

Does this happen often? Funny how mine is like that too. Been wondering if I could just replace that piece, as well....

They become like that overtime, unfortunately. There's not an exact lifespan for the handles but it's roughly sometime after the warranty expires

You my plan was to just buy a door panel but then I found you can buy the "door pull" new separately for cheaper

I don't seem to be able to find the brown color interior though. ?

Good news. It's not brown there! Yay it's black and you can get them at the dealer.

My e90 was like this when i purchased. Inner and outer handle pieces are available at dealer wicked cheap. You will find the inner piece has been plastic welded when you pull the door panel off. Just drill out and trim off the extra plastic on the new handle. There are 3 screws already securing the handle, the plastic weld is just extra support. Replaced mine a year ago, its still intact. Note: this deterioration is caused by alcohol based products like hand lotion or sanitizer.
