Snapped caliper guide pin

Attempting to do my brakes today, I've sheered off one of the caliper guide pins! Everything on this car seems to be seized. I WD40'd it a fair bit, it was turning and turning and then it just snapped.

Can I do anything to get it out? Is it safe to drive to a mechanic?

Cant drive it like that.

Take the whole carrier off and you can get at the snapped bit on the bench, probably want to drill a hole thru it (carefully!) and use a stud extractor.

If you cant get it out, then take the carrier to a mechanic for them to sort it, or buy another caliper/carrier off ebay or a local breakers yard and swap the slider and carrier over.

Scared of the other one shearing off leaving me completely screwed. I'll take it round my mates tomorrow and see what he can do.

Just took it round the block and it is braking ok. The caliper is rock solid, which makes me think the other pin is siezed too.

I take it BMW will stock these pins?

I dont see how the other one snapping makes you any worse off?

Its already broken, and despite it "braking OK" theres no way in hell i'd be taking a car on the road with a caliper held on with one slider.

The pins can be bought from the dealer, but they might not have them in stock.

Did it snap flush with the caliper or does it poke out a bit so one can weld a hex nut to the stump?
