Brake judder

I'm getting brake judder through the steering when I apply the brakes, it gets worse the harsher the braking. I'm pretty sure it's a warped disc, looking at the near side disc, it looks like something has 'gauged' the disc.

The pads look decent on both sides. Is it simply due to poor fitment of the disc?

Eicher discs and pads?

Stones and other 'stuff' could get caught in between the disc and the pads to cause small gauges but you'd probably hear a light grinding if you ever drive with the window down

Discs are piece of p*ss to do on these, if you're compitent you could do both front discs and pads in an hour I reckon given you have all the tools needed which isn't much

Took me two hours to do my front discs and pads and I was working on an awkward driveway in the dark and had never touched the brakes on the car before

Just watched a couple of videos on youtube. It looks pretty straight forward. Does the wear sensor cable just clip off?

Do I need to apply copper grease to the hub?

I applied copper grease yes but not a massive amount, just a very light coating to keep off enough corrosion to prevent the disc from getting stuck

And off the top of my head I can't remember how the sensor cable fixes in place, I didn't change mine as it hadn't been touched yet

The pads had a lot left in them but discs were dead so changed the lot and just left the wear sensor

No I went with Pagid discs which I regretted straight away having read threads on here of them warping after very little use

However I've done maybe 6k on mine and they've been fine

Also went with Pagid pads, so far I can't complain with their performance and they've had a few hard 'sessions' across Dartmoor and Cornwall too

I've just done mine recently. I used Jurid pads and i think Febi disks from All German Parts.

Oddly i've still got a vibration, so whatever it is, wasnt caused by the brakes.

I'm thinking front suspension arms or something?

Would the 'tension arms' cause this under braking?

i've read that they could, yeh.

Its on 145k and probably original suspension, so not really a huge surprise.

I'll get the bits lined up at some point and do the four control arms, top mounts and rod ends etc just to freshen it all up.

Probably swap the dampers out for some Bilstein B4's at the same time too.

Do you get the vibration through the wheel too?

Mine gets worse the more weight that's in the car. Hmmm

Snap, although top of my priority list is getting the dampers matched, it's on Koni yellows on the rear and standard m sport on the front, need this sorted but keep telling myself that if I do the front dampers I want Eibach springs and top mounts done at the same time which at the moment I can't stretch to doing!

Yeh. My dampers are some weird "Sachs ProTouring" things, i think they've been changed, they look very new.

I will probably keep the MSport springs, might add the lowering plates for the front, rear rideheight is fine, front could drop a little bit, and the spring rates on the eibachs arent really any different anyway.

Its just that i cant be arsed taking things apart multiple times, so i'll end up getting all the bits together, and doing the whole lot in one hit.

I'm gonna go with ATE discs I think. Can't get Jurid's from Eurocarparts.

What pads are decent? Got a choice of ATE, Textar, Eicher and Pagid.

I'll go with ATE for everything then I think.

Silly question but if I'm ordering brake pads are they a set or just for one side like the discs?

One last question sorry, are the E90 320d M Sport discs 300mm?

I'm seeing 300mm and 312mm on eurocarparts!

Best measure yours, or do a VIN lookup and find the matching parts on RealOEM.

I'll get the VIN on my break and double check but by selecting the vehicle on realoem, I get two choices. 300mm or 330mm.
