335i Failed pump + turbo shield? [video attached]
Evening.
This noise only started tonight. Whether the car is on or not, this strange buzzing is coming from the engine bay. At first I assumed a belt/pump, but it even does it before I unlock the car. Notice in the video, the buzz starts, before I unlock it, then it buzzes again afterwards. Any ideas? It's under warranty, but it's good to know before I call them. That'll be the coolant pump! Mine made a similar noise when it was on its way out.

Yeah its the same pump. Its an electric pump on the n54. I think costs are about £350 plus fitting iirc.

Bad news.
Finished work, went to unlock the car, and it's dead, no power to it. Managed to get in with the key, but there's no power. So, whatever the noise was has now drained my battery during the day. BMW are coming to my office at 8.30am to diagnose (they offered 90 mins, but I'd already arranged a lift home). |

Update. Firstly, I can't fault BMW, their service department is spot on.
I sent them the video clip to help them before the car arrived, and they've diagnosed the issue as: Coolant pump and wiring loom. Also they've said the LPFP needs replacing too. All under warranty fortunately. |

That should all be a simple fix for the dealer. It sucks that a new pump can fail so quickly. My hpfp only lasted 3k miles so I know what it's like when new parts don't last!

Supposed to have it back yesterday, but it's been delayed 2-4 weeks!
Just got a call to say the turbos are missing an intake pipe heat shield?! The part is on back order from Germany What is this shield? Why isn't it there? Was it missed when they replaced my turbos 10k miles ago? |
