Correct tyre pressures
I've got 18" MV3 M Sport alloys and last year decided to ditch my run flats.
My front tyres seem to have worn very quickly. What tyre pressures should I be running, same as run flat pressures or not? Think I'm running 36 psi front 40 psi back. |

runflats are stiffer, so some people think the tyre pressures need raised when using normal tyres.
I've just went with whatever was on the door. 36/38ish rings a bell. Seems fine to me. The real tell is how your tyres are wearing. Overinflation will cause the tyre to wear out in the middle. When i bought my car both rear tyres were up around 45-50psi and were badly worn in the middle, so much so that i binned them off. |

I use 36 front / 38 rear for day to day use. If I'm doing a long journey with 4 passengers and a full boot I set the rears to 40.

outside edge scrubbing isnt related to pressure.
Its often caused by understeer, or cornering very near the limits of grip (usually worse on the nearside due to roundabouts!) but can also be a sign of insufficient camber or general alignment issues. Were they decent tyres or cheapies? Mate of mine always used to fit cheapies, and would rip the outer shoulder off them in a few months as he was permanently cornering on the door handles. He swapped to some Eagle F1's and its stopped happening. |

I've got Michelin Pilot Sports on the back which are wearing really well so going to fit those on the front. Didn't want to bin them quickly by having incorrect pressures! |

Defo get the alignment checked then, i wouldnt expect michelins to wear like that, even if they are the generic everyday tyre rather than the performance one.
