Tyre profile size

Bit of a noob question.

If I increase the profile on my fronts and rears will it increase my ground clearance?

Reason being, I catch on a gate stop at my apartment block and it's driving me insane!!

Will raising the profile have any other effects?
I'm guessing it will close the arch gap a little.

Also plan to ditch run flats at the same time and maybe go a bit wider, read that a lot of people do.

I'm running MV4's currently

Yes it will raise the car a touch but not a massive amount so depends how badly it catches at the mo.

It will throw the speedo out a touch too.

What are the offsets? (To input into that website)

It depends how many people are in the car, if I'm alone then it just tips it sometimes. If I have a full car then it's a huge clunk off something.

Working on moving house...

And I debated giving it a quick hit with a sledge hammer but the gate will then go over it. Because it only just touches it at the moment.

How much will it throw the speedo out? Is there something that can be done to correct that?

Use something like this: Tyre Size Calculator

That way you don't have to worry about the rims themselves.

It will give you the different measurements from changing and the percentage differences for things like speedo.

You can't do anything to compensate for the speedo discrepancy when altering tyre sizes. Also if you are getting quite a hit then you'd need to really alter the profile which isn't wise to do as you should ideally keep it as close to stock.

Perhaps you need a lift kit or air suspension...

On my LCI E93 i'm running f30 403s with 225/40/19 and 255/35/19 which is bigger than the E93 profile of 225/35/19/ and 255/30/19 and my speedo is now spot on instead of reading over when comparing to GPS.

Those are sort of in between standard and M3 sizes.

What does the M3 run in 19"?

I've always liked the chunky look of the 18" M3 tyres, wasnt sure if they'd fit on a normal car though.
