E82 135i to F30 320d!!??

HI Guys,

Currently in the 2012 135i (6 speed of coursE) with PPK1 thinking of moving into a 2015 '328d' xdrive .
I love my 1 series, but I moved, my commute is now 90km round trip a day. I drive even more than that to meet clients., etc.

The gas bill is just getting out of control and the girlfriend hates the bumps when riding shotgun. Potholes in Toronto and area are killing me in the short wheelbase. 2 RFT down just in the summer alone. 3 since I've owned the car. , plus it's coming out of warranty next Feb 2016..... I've done a couple searches and some seem to think it's okay, some seem to think it's way too underpowered and no fun. I drive mainly sitting in traffic, (for anyone who knows the GTA I am going from downtown to Vaughan), so never really get to even wind her up except when I go to the cottage. You lose your whole life in Ontario if you exceed the speed limit by 50kms.

To put it simply, IS it going to kill me coming out of the n55 with it's endless power band, and going from E to F? My mom has a F32 N55 and I think it still kind of feels like a lexus... how is the F30 gonna feel with the little oil burner?

Anyone made a similar switch? Sorry for the long post... tons of anxiety over it! lol... I drove the D today, felt ok actually. But getting back into my car I was

I own a 328d F31 and a 1M It might not be exactly your trade but I can tell you few difference. First of all my commute in montreal include thousand of potholes on that matter you will be much better. I don't know what type of 328d you were looking for but m-sport package with adjustable suspension and steering is a must have. You will miss your 6cyl noise big time as the N47 is mostly whistling under hard trottle. Steering feel is not on the same level but apparently newer cars had correction(mine is a 2014). Compared to the E serie cars you will need to have everything in sport mode to enjoy the drive with the transmission in DS. On the other hand the ZF8 is doing an incredible job. You will also miss the free reeving caracter of the 6cyl as well as push under acceleration. On the fuel economy side the 328d is at least 30-35% more economical than the 1M. I get down to 4.9L/100kms at 120km/h. In the end it all end up to what your priorities are.

I went from a 2011 E82 135i to a 2014 F30 328i.

I definitely miss the power and the fact that the 1 was a 6MT, but the 328 does not feel slow. In sport+ it has plenty of pick up and much less understeer.
