e90 air con problem; condensor

Right, I finally found time to have my air con system looked at, its not cooling but powering up ok (I can hear the motor running up/engine revs change etc), worked fine for a bit after a replen but its gone again; leaking system.

Jut forked out £60 on a diagnostic and the result is a leaking condensor. I have been quoted £450 for the work, £360 of which was for the condensor. A quick eBay search shows that a condensor can be had for £68!

Has anyone had a similar issue with their car/system? Any insight greatly appreciated before I go ahead with the fix, probably supplying parts myself!

Cheers.

I replaced my condenser myself after a massive leak (AR oil cooler punched a hole). Part was only $100 and it's not that hard to do. I have a 335 so it differs from your car, but the general process is remove fan, move the radiator back (I did not remove mine entirely), and the condenser slides out. Only a few clips and the two hoses hold it in place. The hardest part is on reinstall you have to line everything up when sliding it back in or it doesn't fit.

AC issues are not uncommon on cars in general.

Parts can be had for very cheap. The parts game is a complete racket. Always do your homework and you'll save a tonne of ££

I had my air con unit fail, seize and snap the pully. I had to have it replaced (aftermarket part not OEM), new belts and labour for about £450 inc VAT
