Combox Retrofit

Hi, I have a 2009 330d with factory fitted CIC, bluetooth, USB in armrest, BMW online and assist. I am looking in doing a combox retrofit.

Current TCU in boot,

I have done research into this but still have a few questions;

- The CIC needs to have the correct firmware. It has been updated previously as I can update the maps via USB, i believe this feature came out in 2013. to find out if my CIC has the correct firmware? I have DIS, NCS and INPA.

- I can get a plug and play harness from a member which should make the installation straight forward.

- I need to do coding at the end but cant find a guide on what needs to be done. Any links? I have done coding before using NCS.

Thank you

How did you update your cic firmware?

I am in same position as you 2010 320d with no combox looking for retrofit. Itany seems to be a good guy to speak to on here.

combox went from 09/10 on sedan and touring and on 03/10 on coupe and cabriolet

Yes my car being a 2009 is before combox became a standard fit.

But i believe the CIC software has been updated in the past, so how do i find out if my current CIC software version is compatible?

If you've done coding before, then you should be able to find out.... or Google is your friend.

I can safely say, your CIC won't be fully combox friendly (I.e if you want BMW apps).

I have googled it and the closest I have found is Best way to check CIC firmware is read from NCS expert. After codieraten_lessen will show a current status from CIC.C08 to CIC.C1A

So this will tell me what firmware i am on, but what is the minimum firmware required to be combox compatible?

How do you know my CIC will not be fully combox compatible?

You've answered your question.... you have C1A firmware..... this is not compatible with a combox.

You need C16 for combox & apps.

I have not actually checked it yet, the method above was the way I was told to check.

I will check on the weekend. Finger crossed for C13!

Thanks

It can't be done remotely.... you'll need to get Makkan or litany to do it

Ok thanks, only issue is that they both half way across the country. Can anyone else around the north west do it?

Hi,
Sam (Makkan00) met me in Stockport to do a coding, I think he has family up here.
Send him a message, if he can help I'm sure he will. He's the nicest guy and great at what he does!

You can only update the CIC with an ICOM interface.
