Combox Retrofit
Hi, I have a 2009 330d with factory fitted CIC, bluetooth, USB in armrest, BMW online and assist. I am looking in doing a combox retrofit.
Current TCU in boot, I have done research into this but still have a few questions; - The CIC needs to have the correct firmware. It has been updated previously as I can update the maps via USB, i believe this feature came out in 2013. to find out if my CIC has the correct firmware? I have DIS, NCS and INPA. - I can get a plug and play harness from a member which should make the installation straight forward. - I need to do coding at the end but cant find a guide on what needs to be done. Any links? I have done coding before using NCS. Thank you |

How did you update your cic firmware?
I am in same position as you 2010 320d with no combox looking for retrofit. Itany seems to be a good guy to speak to on here. |

Yes my car being a 2009 is before combox became a standard fit.
But i believe the CIC software has been updated in the past, so how do i find out if my current CIC software version is compatible? |

I can safely say, your CIC won't be fully combox friendly (I.e if you want BMW apps). |

I have googled it and the closest I have found is Best way to check CIC firmware is read from NCS expert. After codieraten_lessen will show a current status from CIC.C08 to CIC.C1A
So this will tell me what firmware i am on, but what is the minimum firmware required to be combox compatible? How do you know my CIC will not be fully combox compatible? |

You need C16 for combox & apps. Last edited by jammy78; 11-18-2015 at 04:02 PM.. |

You can only update the CIC with an ICOM interface.
