Oil & Filter change today...
I had the oil and filter changed today at 1,600 miles. The cost was $69.00 dollars.
I plan to change it again at 5K and then every 5K after that... Can someone tell me what the model number is for the 330i engine? Is is the M52 or the M?? Thanks, Mike

Hey, I've got a question for you. I haven't driven a BMW 3er manual yet, how is the clutch? And the gear shift? thanks, in advance.

engine is N52.... not M
and the shift throw and clutch are wonderful. Better than my boxster. And a lot better than my old honda accord.

Thanks for the info. N52 engine..
The clutch and shifter are fantastic! This car is meant to be driven with a Manual Gear box in my opinion.

I did not get to look at the old oil, but for $69.00 dollars it feels good to get the original oil out of there. It can only help resale value when your remind the buyer that the other 330i's that they are looking to purchase, only had the oil changed every 15K miles..(not a car i would want to buy)

MTMnet wrote in part, "I had the oil and filter changed today at 1,600 miles. "
__________________________________________________ __I changed the oil and filter at 7500 miles and noted a very strong odor of gasoline in the old oil. The engine was hot at the time and had been run for 35 miles immediately prior to the oil/filter change. I wil not go this long again, despite the BMW recommendation. Ili and filters are too cheap to take the chance, IMO. |

Anything more frequent that, imho, is just an excuse to work on the car because "their daddy did it that way" or whatever "feel good" excuse they come up with. |

LOL. I resemble that remark! <G> I am old fashioned in that I consider motor oil and filters as cheap insurance. The primary reason that I will not buy an off-lease car is that they normally receive only minimal maintenance. The strong odor of gasoline in the oil that I changed is enough to convince me that BMW is not looking beyond the warranty period in making their oil change recommendations. It would cos them a few bucks to provide "free" scheduled maintenance if they specified 5000 or 7500 mile oil changes. Risk it if you wish but I will spend the $60 bucks every 5000 miles. Hey I was very reluctant to move beyond the 90 day 3000 mile rule! :-) |

Why not just go non-synthetic and save some $$? Afterall, a big reason behind using synthetic has to do with the extended change interval. E90Fleet!!! Where are you !!!!.. Last edited by F32Fleet; 01-27-2006 at 12:38 PM.. |

Quick question....do you have to bring it to back the dealer, or could you bring it to lube and filter place to have it done? And watch them to make sure they put Synthetic Oil back in.
Has anyone done this? I live in Canada and was thinking after 5000km is reached, I'd bring it to Minute Lube to get it changed with Mobil 1 syn. oil. Any thoughts gurus? Thanks e4. |

Did you miss that thread when a E90 owner took his oil for professional analysis? guess what the result was. To each on your own. Honestly, I think 15,000 is fine, but for safe side sake, Im going to get my first oil changed @ 5000miles. First oil is where all the dirty debris are left over. After that, I'll follow BMW's procedure.
