(E90) Anyone Running a Short Front Plate?

Just wondering if anyone with an E90 and a private plate is running a shortened (but legal) private plate? I did this on my Subaru: I had a 5 digit plate and the letters were spaced legally, in the correct font, and the correct spacing to the edge of the plate. Anyone got this on an E90?...

I've shorted my plate myself from each side. I've been taught its legal and in my area I didn't seem to bother anyone.

That plate positioning just looks wrong on an E9X. Suits Evos and scoobies better imo

It defiantly does suit Japs better, although I like the clean look of the U shape in the middle. Will probably put it back to normal soon anyways.

Will put up some photos once back from holidays.

I just cut the sides down my original plate, I think legally you need to leave a small border,

something like 20mm but cant fully remember.

I'm running a short plate front and rear, as long as you have 11mm free all round the characters it's legal, from memory.

Deeg my good man, that is EXACTLY what I wanted to see! Thank you.

I ran a small plate on my Subaru, but didnt want it to look lost on the front of the 335d.

Exactly, I have a 5 digit plate, trimmed down with 11mm all round and have had no problems. My advice is stick with the standard font and letter size and you'll be fine.

I had a very short 6 digit plate. I wasn't 100% on it as it would suit 5 digits better. I've gone back to standard front for now and I'm gonna put the back back to standard too.

A copper mentioned it the other week and though he said he wasn't 'anal' enough to do anything about it apparently the raised lettering isn't legal.
