Steering wheel leather scuffed

I'm looking at a 2013 335is with a reported 25k miles on it. The car appears in good condition overall. The oddity is the steering wheel. The leather appears to have worn through the outer skin and is a dull grey on top and bottom of the wheel. What would cause this at such low mileage? I see no such wear on our other BMWs, one an E46 w/ 168k miles and the wheel rim is as new.

Thanks for any insight.

Either previous owner had sweaty palms or mileage was rolled back. The e46 with 168k that looked like new might have the steering wheel replaced. Very common for sellers on high mileage vehicles to replace the steering wheel and the shifter lever if MT car. Ofthen they replace or recondition the driver seat as well.

The wheel is deisgned to for your hands to be at 3 & 9 oclock. So if the driver has been holding the wheel top and bottom. You'll see it wear quickly
