retro fit blue tooth (already have idrive)

We've just added an E90 to our family fleet that turns out has no connectivity to a phone.

Its got I-drive / BMW professional navigation system, what is the easiest way to make it connect to a phone via Bluetooth.

Also when in satnav, the traffic information does not seem to update, if you click on i for travel info and it either shows some traffic problems from miles away or says no signal - should this always pick up traffic info?

thanks

i thought professional nav included bluetooth, but i could be wrong?

If its the TMC traffic info then its received via fm radio. RTTI traffic is the newer style which is via a data connection (the cars inbuilt simcard)

If it has professional nav.... then it'll have BT.

Have you got Telephone in the menu / BT module in the boot?

No sadly and I would know. £2K on nav but the original owner didn't spec £250 of bluetooth!

Thanks for all the replys.
I did 450 miles in the car at the weekend but for some reason didnt read the idrive menu properly.

I have just checked and it has Telephone in the menu but when I click on it the menu says telephone not installed contact BMW

I suppose in 2006 people were not that reliant on bluetooth so did not tick that option.

Thanks, yes its TMC traffic.
The radio works fine in FM we did 450 miles over the weekend but the traffic info does not seem to work it never knew of the problems we had on the M6 or the M25 its obviously lost its connection somehow to traffic info, I'd like to fix that as its a handy feature on long trips.

If the car has the CCC headunit, then go for Dension 500S BT. Very straight forward install compared to OEM and has 120% functions of the OEM bluetooth.
Works exactly as if you had BT from factory, you can select contact names from the iDrive, call directly by clicking them down, stalk buttons fully functional.

Check if you have a module behind the rear seats (under the tray).

If you don't, you'll probably have the wiring (BT Prep). Then it'll just be a case of buying a MULF module & plugging it in.

I wouldn't fret over the loss of TMC traffic, it's a total waste of time. I had my last car (with TMC) for 4 years & learnt to treat traffic reports with extreme scepticism because it was far too slow. By the time a traffic jam was reported, I would've been there for hours (and possibly even cleared by then), & the report would persist for hours after the road had cleared, the last thing I want is a 5 mile detour round congestion that cleared 3 or 4 hours ago.

I thought all x35i had xenons as standard. Or does the 135i not?

I've seen quite a few 335d without xenons

Xenons were only standard on coupe & convertible models of the e90 series

335d is not 335i. I think e90 335i got xenons as standard, and probably a few other things too.

Wow, good find. Maybe they changed the spec later on. I remember speccing a 335 and xenons were standard.

That is probably candidate for the worst looking 335 out there. Would be great sleeper though!
