Pre-Sept E90 Software Recall for Update, You Could Get the Alarm Activation for Free
For those of you who have installed the alarm yourself in your Pre-September E90, this is your chance to get it activated for free. In the next few weeks, BMW will send out a recall letter of the software update on pre-sept e90. You can bring your car to the dealer for the software update and ask them to program your remote to get the "chirp" arm/disarm sound. You could get it for free if the service advisor's nice enough or if you promise to give him/her "5" on the service rating.
My service advisor gave me: Daylight running, Car/key memory (regconize personal profile when door unlocked), Driving-off Door Lock, Visual and Audible Alarm Arm/Disarm, Active Driveway Light (headlights stay on for 40 seconds after removing the key). Good luck to you all. |

My service advisor (SA) told me about the software recall because I had the passenger airbag light eluminated with a passenger in the car during the startup and wanted the dealer to check. He checked and realized that was one of the issues on the software recall list which dealers received from BMW and customers will get them in mails later.
Because he has to update the software anyway, he gave me the alarm activation for free when I asked him to program the "chirp" sound for me. I don't think BMW will give you the auto door unlock due to the safety issue. You can choose to have all doors unlocked when you press the keyfob once instead of twice as the default setting. |

Thanx for the info! I'm lloking forward to getting some of those features added to my car. I don't have the alarm installed, but I can still get the "armed/disarmed" chirp, correct?

I don't know. I wanted the dealer to check my passenger airbag indicator malfunction and asked him (SA) to program the "chirp" sound for me. He said he'd give me the alarm activation for free with all features above. He sat down with the list and let me choose what features I wanted. I thought those features came with the alarm, not with software tho. 30 min. later, he called me back about the software recall and asked me to leave the car over night for the software update.
He gave me a 325i loaner (not sure if it's post-sept.) with most features above except the "chirp" sound because the car didn't have an alarm. |

BTW, I'll pick up my car tomorrow and let you guys know. I think BMW is sick of the complaint sabout the pre-sept software bugs and wants to recall for the software update now. I believe the updated software will give you all features missing from pre-sept build.

Update: CIP 20.0 works great. I got my car back today with these features: Daylight running, Car/key memory, Driving-off Door Lock, Pathway Lighting. One more thing: the bluetooth is much louder now that I have to turn at least half way volume down (great huh?).
The guy forgot to activate my alarm with the "chirp" sound. I called back and they will do it for me in the next appointment. |

Anybody else have this done yet? Im bringing mine in next week to do this, so hopefully itll turn out the way I want it
I am hoping to get the key memory programming and the pathway lighting. I am also going to have them unprogram the auto locking feature because it doesnt auto unlock, and it really annoys me... Bluetooth louder??? sounds good to me. Lets hope the software is also a little better at connecting than the current... |

How can we get this recall without the dealer having to tell us. Is there some thing that I can take to the dealer and be like "here you go, fix it"
Here in Germany (At least the dealer were I bought my) has that mentality that if I don't know it, it won't kill me.
