Studio Incar - My new build

So i've just had a complete rebuild on my audio by Studio Incar.

I have to say, Shakey is probably the most knowledgeable guy I've ever met when it comes to all things audio, he's a true student of all things music/audio and can highly recommend the work he does.

He's done a blog post on my build, the link for anyone who's interested is below.

http://www.studioincar.com/mos-def/

If you want the best in car audio, Studio Incar is definitely the place to go!

That's a cracking build, the stacked pillar builds are very adventitious, wasn't sure re the looks but having read the entire script fully understand the logic, seen Josh's build on several occasions and it's very clinical re its finish which I do I have to say like.

The write up Shaky does is superb, no wonder he gets people knocking on his door... Superb set up enjoy

That's a really nice build. I too have A pillar builds in the X5 housing my DLS mids and highs and it makes a HUGE difference to staging.

Some excellent components and like the Air Play feature.

Would be interested to know the total cost though.

Cupraraj: Sound as you'd expect, is awesome. Especially when you put quality material through it. I stream hi-res audio via Tidal over Wifi AirPlay and the quality is just phenomenal.

When i go back to MP3 files, the difference is astonishing, you can tell the file is compressed and missing data and detail.

RajB: It wasn't cheap by any stretch but for me it was definitely worth it, I'm so happy with it.

You know these guys are serious about their in car builds when they have a pair of B&W CM9's as their workshop speakers!

Great photos there, cracking build on the car, would love to hear it.

Tidal is amazing for sound! I've recently started using this in the car from my iPod and the different is massive. You forget how much you actually lose with MP3 these days as our ears are so tuned to listen to them as the norm.

Same at home as well, switching between Spotify and Tidal, the difference is day and night on the hi-fi.

Very cool build, proper high quality, I also love that stacked pillar setup as everyone has mentioned - looks seriously awesome!

Would love to hear it at a meet or a show some time.

Raj: Yes tidal is the service Jay Z and many others bought a few months back. Its a subscription service like Spotify, Ł19.95 a month for hi res, or Ł9.95 for standard res

Az, never been to show or meet, would be up for one though!

Yep, there are a few people involved as dm2583 has said.

It's a great service, very pricey to be honest, but good quality as if your source output isn't up to scratch, it doesn't matter how good your system is, its never going to sound as good as it could.

If your using it at home, its worth investing it a decent DAC too. The likes of the Audioquest Dragonfly is a good starting point, or the Geekout ones if your looking at DSD support.

Only downside of Tidal for portable use is that it really hammers your storage and battery a little bit.

However with most of the Hi-Fi industry starting to use Tidal, its a great option for high res streaming and offline content at the moment.

Tidal Hi-Fi

I'll PM you the pillar price

I had focal components in the rear, we took them out so theres nothing in there at all now. I never used them plus you want the soundstage to be infront of you.

Me too please buddy and the total cost of you don't mind as I'm starting to look into mine. I've done all my previous cars and started to think don't go down this road with this one but I'm leaning again towards getting it sorted.

How do you find the a pillar mounts? I tend to find my self close to that space when getting in and out with my hands etc in tight spots.

Have you knocked them yet or are you being very careful?

Just wondering how practical they are for daily use

A very valid point which you've made but def won't stop audiophiles getting them done. Cannot wait to get this done too when funds permit but I won't used HAT speakers as they're well out of my range. I've spent enough now so will utilise my BMW Individual speakers I think! Or Morels which can be had for half the price LOL!! But since I've never heard HAT speakers, I cannot compare.

Darsh, would love to hear your system pal. Where are you based? Any chance you're in Shakey's neck of the woods on Monday lol!?
