Agreed Value insurance?
Does anyone have an agreed value insurance policy on their Bimmer? I just added up the amount that Ive sunk into the 335i and im at $12k+ over the last 2 years, and USAA values the car at $13,500ish per NADA or KBB. I am looking for an agreed value of $20k to recoup some of the cost in the event of a total loss.
I've looked into Grundy and Lelandwest but neither would insure me because the car isnt an antique or a collector car. Some of you have some insanely modded cars so Id imagine I cant be the only one looking into this. What do people do when they drop a $20k built motor into a shit box of a chassis? Thanks Edit- Forgot to mention, I'm shipping over a '90 Euro spec e34 520i with 150k km that is in mint condition and would like to find an agreed insurer for it as well, especially since you cant get a 520i in the states. I don't know about agreed-value insurance, but I believe that a rider to the USAA policy says (or at least said: it's been a while since I looked at it) that it covers some (small) about of aftermarket add-ons. If you have more, then I think you can call them and see about them covering the extra (I'm sure in exchange for a higher premium), but you may want to take a look at your policy.

I've never heard of an agreed value rider, but I do know that most insurance companies will adjust your payout if the car is deemed a total loss if you provide receipts for the improvements/mods. Two years ago my '03 M3 was stolen. I had replaced the suspension with Bilstein PSS10 coilovers, upgraded the cams and exhaust within 18 months of it being stolen. About $6000 in all. I provided Allstate with all the receipts and they added $3500 to my payout. Hope this helps.

I have an agreed value policy on all my cars from AIG. BUT, it is a very hard thing to get. The policy I have is for long-term owners of classic cars, to cover their daily drivers. You have to keep at least one traditional classic car on the policy - I have a Triumph Spitfire. They use high retail as the valuation for newer cars - they value my '11 328i at $29,500. You can accept their valuation or propose higher, subject to an appraisal. For my older Range Rover and the Triumph, I specify the value. They can call for an appraisal, but did not as my valuations are fairly low at $8000 and $6000. They reset the values at renewal, and they are good for the period of the policy.
The best part is that it is CHEAP - I will pay $1500/yr for the 328i, M235i, Range Rover, and Triumph. High limits, very low deductibles.
