Water pump bit the dust, 2011 N55.
Driving to work this morning, I got an engine temperature warning and then about 10 seconds later a red "engine overheated" warning. I pulled over immediately and popped the hood to let her cool down. Luckily I was within two exits of the dealer, so after about 15 minutes of cooling I limped it to the dealer. They just called me to let me know it was the pump, which I suspected.
Just over 67,000 miles on the clock now, and boy am I glad to have an extended warranty paying 100% of the cost. |

Welcome to the club. You're so lucky to have warranty.

Yeah, I know its not exactly news that a water pump failed, but I am a bit surprised that it still plagues the 2011's even. I guess I was under the mistaken impression that the 2010+ cars were on a new enough revision of the pump that is was a rare occurrence to have one fail.
I had a rear door actuator fail a couple weeks ago, so between that and the cost to replace the pump the warranty has already paid for itself, almost. |

Damn, that's impressive! How is the car holding up in general at that mileage?

Luckily mine was changed during CPO. It didn't fail but the tech did a pressure test for no reason and found a leak in the WP. Lol

well.. yours was a hardy one. Mine went out at 26k..which is normal by my SA's standards. Basically these lectric thingers are only engineerd fer bout 30k..so if yer's makes it much more you are a winner.

Yeah, all things considered I'm actually glad mine failed. Means I should be GTG for another 50k or so, and I won't have to worry about replacing it out of warranty, if I even keep the car that long.

I got the T-stat code on my car last summer, changed out only the thermostat, didn't touch the waterpump (other than to remove the thermostat), water pump is still going strong.
