What should I do with a car hood if no one wants it?

Hey all,

I recently replaced my hood, and it seems impossible to even get someone to pick up my old hood for free (the clearcoat is a little blurry). What should I do with it? I'd prefer to not have it lying around. Any ideas? Maybe turn it into a sled for the winter? lol. What would you do with it? I can't ship it

I had a dented hood and sold it to the local metal recycler. I got something like $6 and probably spent that much in gas taking it there.

I'm stuck with an e90 m-sport front bumper with a flaky basecoat and a crack underneath it.

It sucks having huge parts that are semi broken no one wants/purchase :/

Wow, that is bad. And I would hate to trash this hood since it's in good shape other than the paint.

Have it repainted professionally, with a large ///M logo or roundel on it, and hang it in the garage as a nice piece of wall art?

Ask a local body shop/ collision repair shop. That's where I dumped my side skirts when no one wanted them.

+1

They might give you $40 for it just so they can practice, train, or repair it.

Make a nice M3esque hood out of it. Power dome, vents, new paint and sell it for $1k

+1 I was about to suggest the same thing, because most body shops love to keep spare parts (just in case) similar to how I like to keep spare car parts and computer parts like a pack rat at my place (You never know when you can use the stuff )

You can practice buffing, polishing, wet sanding, vinyl wrapping, painting etc on it. I my self definitely wouldn't mind having a spare body panel laying around to practice and test products on. I'd even consider doing test and reviews on some detailing products and filming it for youtube.

That's a really good idea actually, that will definitely make keeping it worthwhile

I used to keep spare computer parts like a pack rat until I figured out that all those parts were obsolete like 6 months after I put them in storage and are next to completely worthless.

You might be able to take it to a junkyard and get some money for it. Worth a shot if you have one near you.

Option A) Leave it on the curb and it'll be gone by morning.

Option B) If it was mine, I would cut it up and add some louvres for cooling. If you mess up, go to option A.

Re paint it, put an awesome hood scoop on it with some vents for added cooling and awesomeness.
