JB4 G4 vs G5 ISO

Hey all,

Can anyone tell me the main advantages of the G4 vs G5 ISO board? I'm trying to decide if it's worth upgrading.

I currently have JB4, AR Down Pipes, and Dual Cone Intakes for performance mods.

The G4 has been a dead end product since 2012. Night and day difference in smoothness and tuning options. In fact there have been over 30 major firmware revisions since the G5 ISO came out and a ton of incremental one The latest one adds throttle sensitivity under menu 11 and it's fantastic. Go read the release notes / changes on N54 Tech if you haven't already done so.

in all honesty, i prefer the kick i had from my G4 board as opposed to the G5 integrated, and later i clipped the diodes and had G5 ISO (smooth yes, but feels slower).

while they have more "updates" how many of the G5 ISO changes are actually new and useful updates vs fixes for $#it broken by a previous version

my 0.02 cents, unless you want to be able to say "i can haz ISO booooost" for bragging rights... there really is no advantage to G5 ISO over G5 Integrated over G4 integrated (other than less money in your bank acct).

That's good info..finally someone who has an opinion on that. I have a g5 and have been thinking ISO mainly because everyone seems to be in to that, however it's so hard to get a definitive answer from here or bms as well as to what difference it will make. Don't like the idea of having the latest "trend" that makes my car slower.

Garage List
G4 felt like it had more kick because it could only control the throttle past 50%, so 45% was like 2 psi then boom 50% was 16psi or whatever.

g5 iso > g4 no matter what people want to believe

The reason some people may have ran more boost on g4 wasnt due to superior tuning ability, it was due to poor safety controls that allowed more boost than you should have been running.

Not to mention, the G5 ISO is the only version supported and continually updated. If you want to save a few bucks, sure, you can run the g4, but why do that?

Is it just a simple matter of changing the one component piece for another?

Yes, simple plug and play...

* unscrew the two screws from the Harness and plug it to the replacement JB4.
* Optional - unscrew the two screws from the USB connector and plug it to the replacement JB4

DONE
