No pitchforks please
Hey guys I have been reading a lot on here. I just want to make sure I am understanding everything correctly and have the prices about pegged for par before I go ahead and change suspension/wheels/tires. Follow me on this-
2009 335i xdrive KW V1s (specify to vendor that I have an xdrive because that dictates what V1s they will send) $1650est Alufelgen CS7 19x 8.5 ET35 up front & 19x 9.5 ET35 out back $1200est (Not sure who a vendor is on the east coast for these) Michelin Super Sport 235/35/19 265/30/19 $900est Thank you for any input in advance. |

All pretty standard stuff......should work out great for you. Prices all seem pretty close to listed.....can sometimes find better deals if you dig enough or through certain vendors. Good luck

It took me so three months to decide on wheels for the car and the manufacturer is out of business? I guess I am a little late to the game. What was the other make that was really similar...VMR? Last edited by Coats; 08-13-2015 at 05:47 AM.. |

VMR and Avant garde make very similar wheels. Some people have complained they are easily bent or cracked, but some love them. You usually won't see posts unless something goes wrong so take that into account. If your roads are bad enough for this to be a concern you may want to look into 18s rather than 19s as well for extra protection

If going new and have the money I would consider Apex:
http://www.apexraceparts.com/apex-pr.../#.Vcyt9_m6dhE They are a little more expensive but true lightweight wheels, used by many racers. Alufelgen made some pretty nice CSL type wheels when not many alternatives were around, not real light IIRC, but many other cast wheels have come on market since including dirt cheap ebay-type knock-offs. Having said that I have a staggered set of VMR 710's, 18" that I got used, with decent tires (Conti DW's) for $900 shipped. |

That is a steal for 900 w/ tires too. Nice score. Im certain you were not implying that your 18s were for sale... What is your staggered setup on 18s? Wheel sizes offsets and tire sizes please and thank you. Any spacers needed? |

Thanks. I think hyper black would have looked better but at that price I couldn't pass it up. These are the hyper silvers. Stance is a bit different on level ground, front sits lower. This is with Koni yellows, eibach pro-kit front springs and ZSP rear. On level ground f/r fender gap is equal.

The zsp/ eibach/ koni hybrid setup....was that a lot of trial and error? What was the particular reason that you chose those components? I thought that the Alufelgen Hyper Blacks were the best silver if that makes any sense. They really shined |

Most spring sets on XI tend to drop the rear more than the front, and the Eibach pro-kit is no exception. The front is already beginning to run out of travel at these levels so I tried swapping in some ZSP rears I had lying around to see if I could even out the gap F/R, instead of trying to drop the front more. Seems to have worked and it seldom if ever bottoms out. It bottomed out often on stock springs/shocks/runflats.

Have you purchased the KWs yet? If not then you should definitely PM tiago@VRSF, I bought my v1s from them and got them for a really good price.

Thanks. for the heads up. I was intending to check out their downpipes. I don't know a lot about BMW quirks and codes but I have to research the downpipe fix.
I assume that removing a pair of cats throws codes and that would be a downer if limp mode kicked in right after an install. |
