cleaning the MAP sensor

Read about this in an old thread and thought it might help with my code. Any experiences or thoughts about cleaning with swtich cleaner or electrical parts cleaner?

I just cleaned mine this morning. I used MAF sensor cleaner. Its similar to brake cleaner (high pressure aerosol can) but it's supposed to be safe for MAF sensors, so I figured it would be okay for the TMAP sensor. Haven't installed it to make sure it worked.

I believe there are 2 TMAP sensors, in the chargepipe and in the intake manifold. Mine in the intake was particularly dirty.

TMAP measures pressure. I dont know how cleaning it would help, especially that it will just get dirty again with all the oil in the air.

The concern might be more related to a chunk of something getting lodged in the sensor passage itself. While I haven't looked at our sensors in detail, its usually a pretty small hole that leads to the actual part that does the measuring. Mine came out not only with oil residue on it, but chunks of oil crud, kind of like that that collects on the valves.

It also measures temperature, so oil/grease on the sensor could affect its accuracy and response time.

Thank you for the response. I picked up some electric parts cleaner and im going to clean the connections tomorrow morning. Im thinking maybe when i was cleaning the intakes some gunk got on the connector itself and thats whats causing the code. Will update tomorrow. Is it perfectly fine to spray the connector while the battery is hooked up or should i unplug?
