Rock Auto Fuel Injectors Feedback and Questions

Hello All:

I am looking at replacing my fuel injectors and found these "Standard Motor Products FJ1050 Fuel Injector" for $117 which is about half the price of current index 13 FIs from ECS Tuning:

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...CTS&tab=search

Now the most recent injectors from ECS or Tischer are of Index 12, but cant figure out what index these Rock Auto injectors are.

I placed a call to Rock Auto and they were not sure either. However, they did look into their returns and defective reports and none have ever been returned. This to me is a good indicator to me that they might be a cost effective solution for people in bind like me (who may not keep the vehicle long yet cant predict what might or might not happen down the road). I cant find one bad thing about them online either, short of non nonsensical statements like, "You get what you pay for" or "You need to get OEM or your car will blow up", without any proof or data,

Hoping to find some insight and feedback from those who have used it successfully and if they are equivalent to OEM ones (i.e. most recent index).

Thanks.

Found this:

http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showpo...1&postcount=22

So I may be ok with going with the Rock Auto Injectors!

Please feel free to add to this discussion if you have any info.

Thanks!

I note that these are solenoid injectors. Do you have an N55-powered car?

I replaced a fuel injector in my Ford F-150 a few years ago with a SMP brand injector from NAPA. It failed a few months later. Just a data point.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the index to be honest. BMW keeps "updating" them over and over...and over and over. Somehow the new one is magically the good onesuntil the next update comes out. I'm going with the "they are all crap" option so might as well get the crap that costs less.

Thanks for your feedback. I have gone ahead and ordered them because of all the problem described @ http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...5#post18390295.

Hopefully, they will be index 12 and if not as long as they are compatible i.e. all below index 10 or all above index 10, I am going to install them because @ $700 its a no brainer for me (compared to close to $1400 from Tischer or ECS).

I can tell one thing though: Rock Auto is shipping is blazing fast, I picked 3 day shipping option (yesterday i.e. Saturday) and they are set to be delivered tomorrow and they were picked up Fedex on Saturday! And to boot they are coming from Fresno, CA which makes it even more impressive since I am out east.

Good to hear bavaddict! Keep us updated with your progress: this could be very useful for others who'll need to swap out their injectors as well.

Heh, I just did a google search, and found that Amazon sells this as well.
They have a "this fits your vehicle" bar at the top when you select model-specific items, as long as they know what you're driving.

I got a "this fits your car" for this part. I drive an '07 335i (n54). OP's good to go.

Incidentally, the manufacturer is claiming that they exceed OEM specs....

I've had these in my car for a year, 6 of them. All of them came with the BMW logo, index 12. Been working perfectly for about 12k miles.

I'm running them too, work perfect and they're all index 12. If you head over to retailmenot you can also get the 5% discount coupon. Good luck.

it will work but you will need a magnet to pull the spark plug out of the cylinder since that socket doesnt have the rubber in it.

I just replaced bank 2 on my car with 3 injectors from rock auto. So far they seem to work fine and have fixed my crappy idle and weird hesitation between 3-4krpm.
The new ones were all index 12
You will also need decoupling elements which you can buy on ecs tuning. They come with the black seals on them under those caps you see on the tips. Don't buy those like I did like a dummy.

Rock Auto injectors arrived and I actually took them over to my local dealer and compared them to the OEM BMW ones. They were *identical*.

I have them installed but have not put everything together just yet. Hopefully, tomorrow evening I will have an update on their functionality. But cosmetically they were identical.

I will post some pics later on as well.

Hope we all can save some big $$$$$. My dealer quoted $3600 to this job and I got it in just around $1000!
