No-Paddle LCI 328i with OEM M3 DCT Steering Wheel - Finally Done

Well guys its finally done. After reading 10 threads that all kind of confused me it was not as difficult... given I took a shortcut.

The Car:

2009 BMW 328i Xdrive Wagon (LCI)
Build 29/10/2008
Steptronic, Standard Non-Sport Steering Wheel

The Retrofit:

OEM M3 Steering Wheel w/
DCT Paddles
M-trim
Multifunction Buttons
(All purchased used and together, $325 shipped GOT A DEAL wooohooo)

Additional Parts Used:

Motive Mods Harness ($106 shipped)
Basic wiring with taps ($5)
Used E92 Sport Airbag ($400 shipped, about what they go for)
eBay Extended Paddles (not necessary but I wanted them, $35 shipped)

At first I was a little hesitant because it seems like the whole non-paddle LCI to M3 DCT is not all that common. After all this car is slow and sloppy. Its not exactly a performer.

After I sourced all the parts we followed the exact plugging instructions from Motive Mods. This harness just connects the slip ring to the shifter. I'm not sure if every harness they make is specific to their car or not but I did specify the exact retrofit I was doing. Great support from them too.

Then used the basic diagram of wiring from ska///235i to connect the paddles to the slip ring. Its simple really. Tapping and connecting. Since this steering wheel and multifunction buttons were from a car that came with paddles its already "programmed" so it deletes the need for an actual slip ring replacement which is GREAT. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=361439 You are just connecting the paddles directly to the multifunction connector. Took about 1 hour of actual work. Bout an hour to overview everything and make sense of it. Done.

Well the car is still slow. The transmission is still sloppy but I've got the more ergonomic M3 steering wheel and some cool paddle shifters. No worries... there is a lot planned for this sonbitch.

Where are the after pics?

Edit: there they are! Looking sick!! Like the extended paddles over the stock M3 ones!

Nice work, that's a big upgrade for the interior. I've been keeping my eye out for a nicely priced OEM M3 wheel.

Sorry about that. The video was down. The pictures have been up though in the first post.

Thanks. It really is. I will get you boys a better picture of the interior tomorrow. Yeah man, looking for the wheel took some real effort. Coming on the forum every day and checking ebay consistently. I'm happy I finally got it done. I'd definitely suggest doing it.

Here are some in-car pics. I let my little bro borrow the car or I'd have 100 pics. Shi&%y voiceover and pics lol.

I began to wrap the trim with Di-Noc Brushed Aluminum but I realized I will end up being unhappy with it later on so I'm just going to paint-match everything to Titanium Silver or Jet Black in full gloss. That include the ///M steering wheel trim.

This should really help transform the interior that right now inside a wagon screams soccer-mom. I was hoping to pick up some M3 seats or maybe some 335i sport seats. These standard seats are straight up poopy.
