E90 audio advice please.

Somehow my boot well filled with water but that's all sorted now and now I have shit sound quality.

I got the water out and dried it all up, especially the amp or dab module thingy?

It sounds like I've blown a couple of speakers, when I play with the sound it seems to be f/left and r/right. It's ok at low levels because you can't tell but as soon as its turned up its rubbish.

The question is what do I do? Upgrade or replace the two speakers if it is just two? If I upgrade, what do I upgrade too and how much will it cost?

I think I have the hi-fi system, front tweeters and front door speakers, rear door speakers, parcel shelf speakers, I think I have a dash speaker and two under seat speakers. And the I presume it's the amp in the boot. No nav but I do have dab.

Not looking for the loudest, most base etc etc just something nice. Tbh the sound quality I have now is fine, but I'm used to good quality from when I had Harmon kardon in my m3.

Thanks guys.

I'm not exactly an electrical whiz but I can't see that the boot filling with water would knacker the front speakers, isn't it more likely to be a problem with the amp or wiring that got the soaking?

So would you say the amp is knackered, I thought with it getting wet it's just blown something? Because all the bass and that is still there.

probably shorted out a couple of channels in the amp when it got wet.

Its unlikely the speakers themselves are broken.

I'd agree with above and say it's more likely the amp that's frazzled a bit. However if with the water it's shot too much electrical current through the speakers then that could have knackered the speakers. It's hard to say without hearing it though.

I wish I knew someone who could look at it, i don't even know any specialists around my area?

Its weird because it's still got the base etc so I thought it would be the speakers? But like you say it could have just shorted a circuit.

Does it make sense it's the opposite speakers? Corner to corner?

It's a bit of a long shot but you could try your nearest BMW dealer, or a BMW independent, an audio or ICE specialist or even an auto electrician!

From my experience, once amp is bricked, most of drives get cooked.
I had E93 where water entered into the boot. Bricked the amp and then amp sends more voltages than it is supposed to do.
At then end I had to change all speakers, tweeters and underseats.

No idea fella. Check german wesbites for alpine kit and germany ebay for L7 subs.
I think it is not a good idea to go for alpine kit which is not designed for your car.

Find hi-fi amp and drivers and just replace them.

Not a good time to get a JL xd600/6? A lot of people with the Hifi system add this via a harness available from the states

Oh the alpine system isn't designed for my car, sorry I haven't got a clue. I only said it Because I've seen it pop up and thought it's an upgrade for anyone.

So I have the hi-fi system, what upgrade could I do?

If I buy the hi-fi amp, the speakers will probably be knackered too. This is so annoying

It's a shame that you live far away mak or I'd drop it off and let you do your magic.

Completely understand as many live far away.

I will suggest you to keep an eye on ebay and start looking for hi-fi components. You may have some still working but you will need multi-meter to check all of them.

And you will need the amp as well. As mob17 said, XD600/6 cane drop in but you will require technics harness.

if you have central speaker in dashboard or silver tweeter cones - you have top hifi logic7 harman kardon system

you should not only to clean boot from water but find reason, why water got there
if you car have sunroof this is usually sunroof clogged drains

If you have the 'HiFi' system, i could do you a deal on original amp and speakers which i took out of my car.

I have 2 sets of tweeters and Midrange, 2 underseat 'subs' and the original amp.

Also, if you wanted to upgrade your speakers, I'm having my Focal KRS100's (tweeters and midrange) taken out of my car next week so they'll be available too!
