JB4 install - Help

I installed JB4 this afternoon, bought used off a forum member, and when I start the car I get a engine fault warning - reduced power. Its a yellow engine icon. I have followed the instructions for the error, checked and rechecked all the connectors, they are all on fine.. The board is plugged into the harness as well. This happened from the very first start with the JB4 installed

I took the car for a drive, with the map set to 0 and the car is definitely running on reduced power

I did use INPA to delete all the error codes, then log the current codes.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be?

Any help is much appreciated!!

Thanks
Fez

Have you triple-checked the connections? I seem to remember one of my power wires had fallen out (the one with the spade connector I think). The JB4 still worked I think but it wasn't quite right.

I had to solder it in the end.

Yes I've checked and re-checked the connectors about 5 times..

The two error codes I get are:

3100 boost pressure control, deactivation

2A80 inlet-Vanos variable can control test, input signal

I'm going to state the obvious but, 99% of the time it is installation error.
Read through the pdf guide and see if you have missed anything.

Hi,

Fez bought the unit from me, had it in my car for about a year didnt have any issues.

I did get errors under WOT but new coil packs fixed that, a common Jb4 prob.

Other than that i can only thinl the power connector isnt on properly in the green harness, or the leads have slid back slighty when put back into the ecu.

I guess you can enter the jb menu ok? Which would show the jb4 being picked up ok

I would strip it all out and start again. It's so easy to bend a pin or pull a wire while putting the ECU lid back on.

Yeah I can enter the JB4 menu with the steering wheel controls, so the unit is being picked up.
I'm going to try taking it all out and starting from the beginning again today, fingers crossed that works!

All sorted!

I disconnected and reconnected everything.. It was plugged in the right way, so its a puzzle as to why it why it was causing issues.. But glad its working now

Did a couple of runs, and to be honest it doesn't feel that much more powerful.. Will have to test it a bit more when its not pouring with rain..

Which map are you running? You need to do at least 3-5 full throttle pulls in 3rd/4th gear to allow all the changed to adapt and then it will feel a lot better.

Tried it on Map 1..

To be honest it was pouring with rain and the roads were quite busy... Will go out again tonight and give it another go

Map 5 will be the best for you mate. If you have the usb cable then do some logs and see how much boost you run.

Can you run map 5 on a standard car?
I though with each map, you were given list of mods.
