Carly for bmw

So you can download the app for the iPhone at a price, and there are "recommended" bluetooth/wifi adapter which are recommended but are like £55.

Do you have to use these or are here any other you can use that are cheaper and work with the app.

My car is an e92 m3 2009 so just Work with this and the iPhone 6.

Thanks in advance

Mike

You can spend £55 & know it's the correct adaptor & will work as intended, or you can take a gamble and maybe save a few ££ by buying something similar, is it really worth the risk & consequential aggravation to save a few ££?

Some people find no issues with the cheaper ones, others find reduced functionality. Personally I bought a cheap Bluetooth one and then ended up buying their own one anyway.

Buy cheap - buy twice!

I bought the official one from Amazon and I'm pretty sure at the time anyway it was nowhere near that much!

I've got the Carly adaptor, works a treat.. If you can afford the fuel bill for a M3, I'm sure you can fork out the extra few quid for the right adaptor.

Their own adaptor is guaranteed to be compatible with everything they let the app do, and it will be updated etc.

A lot of new features they say are only compatible with their wifi adaptor. Just buy it.

I was thinking you might not be able to, that's why I can't stand iPhones, they are so restrictive.

Similarly, I've just picked up a Nexus Tablet because I need androids openness for a project, I'm shocked just how unintuituve the UI is, and how messy it all is.

The openness is great as it can do what I need, but for a daily device? No thanks.

I couldn't be bothered with trying to figure out which cheap ones would or wouldn't give me certain functions. The Carly one is only about £20 anyway!

I don't think it does.

We're a BMW only household, well of cars that have diagnostics.
