A couple of points to remember. BMW has no plans to send the G11 wheelbase to the US. Because they have no plans to send the G11 wheelbase to the US, the two cars that they will be sending to us will be the 740i and the 750i xDrive, both of them on the G12 wheelbase. In other words, they have dropped the 'L' from their nomenclature for US models.

The next model scheduled for the US market will be the G 12 750i. It will begin production in November and probably start arriving over here in late December or early January. They're sending us the xDrive version first.

Individual paint and/or Individual interiors will be available starting in March 2016, except that the BMW Individual Design Composition is supposed to be available immediately according to the BMW International website. As usual, BMW USA says nothing about that possibility. That's the one with Individual Almondine Brown paint.

P.S. -- We won't be getting laser headlights or that remote parking option where you park the car from outside the car. Neither of those things are legal in the US.

The G12 750i xDrive and the G12 740i are the two models that will be coming to the US first They should be arriving in US showrooms in October. The G12 750i goes into production in November and will probably start arriving over here in late December or early January.

Note that BMW has decided to drop the 'L' from their nomenclature of all 7-series cars for the US market since they have no plans to sell the G11 wheelbase 7-series in the US.

Thanks for the concise reply. Sucks about the laser lights and waiting for Individual and no ///M7.

August is start of regular production. July production is just for dealers, not for customer's orders. I believe they are scheduled to go on display in US showrooms starting in October.

No M7 but the Alpina B7 is in testing already. Not the same as an M7 but still something to consider. Then there will be the 760i xDrive, if and when they decide to start making it. It is expected to have the Wraith's 624 hp V12 engine and should be amazing.

Two problems facing laser headlights in the US. First, our laws on vehicle headlights are based on the state-of-the-art technology of the 1960's. Second, all laser lights in the US are under the control of the FDA because when those regulations were formulated all laser lights were for the medical industry. So if you want laser lights for your car, you have to apply to the Food and Drug Administration. And if you want your vehicle headlights to do anything fancy that was not even imagined in the 1960's, you're out of luck, which is why BMW has so many things decoded for the US market.

Even if BMW does figure out a way around the FDA to get laser lights for the US market, they won't be nearly as strong as the ones sold in Europe.

I'm not sure. I don't know for sure what the August shutdown schedule looks like either. I just know the previously published production schedule of 2016 models for the US market shows August as start of regular production for the US market.

I believe BMW's August shutdown runs from August 8 through August 16. I assume regular production begins before that but that's just a guess.
