Another rattle..cant identify HELP

Got another one yesterday and today and I cant seem to pin point where it is coming from.

Basically it rattles in my right ear and sounds like it is coming from either the rear door towards the B pillar or the B pillar/sealtbelt. I would say it is more of a metallic sounds rather than a door seal creak, which I am not experiencing I dont think.

Any pointers? I did a search and cant seem to find anything that relates so far.

TIA

Maybe the door lock latch thingy that sticks out the top of the drivers door (or rear passenger door), mine was rattling on the drivers door and I kept looking towards B pillar trying to determine where it was coming from.

Maybe one of the power window cables? It runs along the top and of the inner metal door frame and could tap against it. Mine was doing this so stuck a bit of foam between them.

I drive a 4 so have no idea what the pillar is like in the 3 series, but I had a similar problem with a previous car and it was the mechanism controlling the seat belt height and it moving slightly rather than locking at a particular height.

I have read this else where, I may try some packing in there to see if that stops it. Cheers!

DO you have any pointers (pics) how this is done, is it a door card off job?

Thats what I thought but is doesnt move...I have cleaned the rubber seals with an IPA/water solution tonight and coated the door aperture with wax as some have suggested, see if that cancels it out..I dont think it is that as it does sound metallic..but I was wrong before...just the once. LOL

Thanks all!

Yes you need to take door card off. I learned how to do that by watching the bavsound you tube video on changing the F30 speakers. Once you've done that the lower the window and remove the inner seal and you can look in the top and you'll see the cables. Play around with them and work out if the are tapping against the metal door frame. If so then you can get a hand to them easiest from below by raising the window and reaching up into the space by removing the membrane. I used some thin foam that you can buy in a diy store for lining draughty windows and doors... Sticky on one side and ideal for the job.
