DIY wheels Road Rash repair?

Tried this in Wheels & Tires section, but they said go to the dealer...

Road rash on Stock rims for m2351 convertible... the 'bronzish' coating seems to be flaking off. Anyone know the process to fix (sand?) this?? I want to dip them anyway... actually wanted to powdercoat them but cannot drive and drop off car anywhere in Houston for powdercoating it seems.

Thanks in advance!

The only solution I found was to replace. If you want to drive over to College Station, I will make you a heck of a deal on a front wheel with curb rash. (If you want a wheel to experiment on.)
