335i vs mustang
pretty much I've had numerous of problems with my 335i since I've gotten it.
I've had it for like 7 months and I had to replace transmission fuel pump coils and vanos 335i was my first bmw, but I've never had a car with so much problems, and I've had many different cars. I was thinking of selling my 335i and buying a new 5.0 has anyone drove one of these or know any good car with power that ranges from 35k to 45k ???? |

Haven't driven one, but a number of members here have made the switch. Some of them have come back saying they just missed their Bimmer too much.
The new stang is definitely a sweet car, and I could almost even see myself in one, but I just don't think I'd ever really be happy in anything but a BMW. That's just a few of us though

335 has its problems thus to maintain it running and in good standing you need two things... Great warranty (OEM or Extended OEM) and money (2k a year) for maintenance,
The 335 is far cheaper to maintain than the M3/M4... A BMW is not meant for someone that doesn't have the cash to keep her running. Why? For those of us that go FBO or got the MOD bug, the cost should be expected. For those that want to keep her stock but drive her like she is stolen then you need the funds. For those that baby her and seldom take her for a fun drive, you will eventually need the funds.. No Mather what it financial costs and its expected. The 5.0 is just cheaper to maintain but it's still a Fix Or Repair Daily car. |

I think ford has come a long way and their new mustang is superior to the new 435 in almost every category and it costs 10 000 $ less. Last edited by rick100; 06-13-2015 at 10:43 PM.. |

You are on a BMW forum asking if another car is better than a BMW. What do you expect? You are going to have fanboys who think the BMW is the best thing ever and any other car fails in comparison.
Add that in with the brand snobbery that a lot of people have on here and good luck getting an unbiased opinion from about 90% of the forum |

As a BMW owner, you know how they ride, how they handle, how they perform. American "muscle cars" don't ride, handle and perform like that. As a 2014 Camaro SS owner for the past 2 years, I was on the Camaro5 forum and got into the whole Camaro community thing. I got thumbs up wherever I drove, it was loud and squirrely and cool...but then it got old. Specifically, it was cheaply built with stamped steel suspension, cheap plastic interior, rubbery shifter and slow to rev LS3 V8 that made 80 RWHP more than the mostly stock 335i I previously owned. My 2014 Camaro SS stickered for $42,300 and I got $31,100 trade in value out of it with only 9,000 miles on my current 335is.
If you test drive a new Mustang GT and like it, buy one and give us an honest review!

It always makes me laugh when someone buys a lemon, fixes all the problems, then sells the good car to someone else in order to take the same risk on another...go figure.

The new 5.0 mustangs are heavy but have some good horsepower. The 335i have so much nice low end torque which to me makes a car so much fun. A tuned 335i will take the new 5.0's with a few simple mods and you have the fun of all that low end torque. Plus to me the sound of turbos are sweet granted you have a DCI. The stang sounds great tho there is a guy in my town that has a 5.0 with exhaust it sounds sexy he is always eye balling me. I have not raced him yet but I see him a bit driving around sure we will someday. I would trust a BMW more in terms of safety vs the Mustang all around. Idk it has to be more reliable than these cars.... Low end torque and how fast the turbos spool up boost makes this car so much more fun vs the other cars I have owned.

Ill be honest i was thinking of selling my bmw for the new 5.0 . I went to test drive it, and while it seemed like a pretty decent car, i could wait to go back to my n55. Just my 2 cents

BMW vs Mustang maintenance? Let me chime in. I've had three mustangs, two older 5.0s and one 4.6. On the 5.0: I had a harmonic balancer break with 20K miles, water pumps went at 40k or so, interior bits broke almost daily, grenaded two transmissions, and had a stereo amp failure at ~35k miles. I sold both cars with less than 60k miles. On the 4.6 (bought brand new): shattered the rear end, grenaded three (yes, 3) transmissions, snapped a shift knob, and door panels came lose over time. I sold the car with 45k miles; no major engine issues with the 4.6. Now, the 2008 335i bought with 48k miles: Replaced brake rotors & pads and battery. My point here is that all cars require maintenance, even my wife's Toyota and Subaru. Cars break, especially if driven hard and modified.

I bought my 98 accord at 140k miles from my FIL who was original owner, well taken care of vehicle.
I now have 185k miles and heres what I've had to do over those 40k miles: Starter clutch radiator and hoses new cat converter brakes (twice, they are weak) Ignition recall new main relay (had this issue in my 90 accord, wtf honda) Distributor (coil went bad, best to replace entire distributor lifetime warranty bought locally) Timing belt/WP is coming up I can tell its going to need front end suspension work soon Brakes are making noises again, prob going to need its 3rd brake job in the 45k ive owned it Theres probably a few other things Im missing, point is all cars break. Even a seemingly well taken care of vehicle from a car company know for reliabilty has needed quite a few things to keep it tip top. Ive done almost all of this work myself (had a shop do the clutch though), if someone bought this car and knew nothing about cars they would have called this a piece of crap.

I cannot speak for the new mustangs, but my 2012 GT is a great car. I have had no maintenance issues with it, although only at about 36k miles. Recently bought a 2008 335xi for a winter/foul weather car. The Mustang is very different from my 335xi, like Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The Mustang is a beast, it drives and handles great but just not as elegant in how it does so. But that is why I like it. Perhaps the new independent rear suspension on the 15 model takes some of the rough edges off, but my understanding is it also added about 200 lbs. As far as reliability of newer models, only time will tell.

Wait for the new Camaro. 200 ibs lighter than last gen, based on the same chassis as the ATS, 460 hp and tq, magnetic ride, option of the 8at, and better aero. Plus, the interior looks pretty good, in my opinion.
