Extended Warranty Pricing - where to go in SoCal/CA?
Hey guys, about a year ago I purchased a 2011 E90 335i AT w/ 30k and it was still under factory warranty and was not CPO at time of purchase. It is equipped with iDrive.
I am now up to 41k miles and my factory warranty is set to expire in Oct 2015. I visited Crevier BMW today to get some pricing options for the BMW Extended Warranty and was quoted the following pricing: Power Train Plus - 7 yr/70k = $2800 Gold - 7 yr/70k = $3820 Platinum - 7 yr/70k = $4600 I typically avg 8-10k miles per year. And I drive pretty spirited from time to time. I was planning on get quotes from other local BMW stealers but wanted to see if you guys have any recommendations for the best pricing on BMW extended warranty before I go hauling ass to each and every dealer. I understand that we in CA are excluded from purchasing the warranty from out of state dealers. I'm also looking into Route 66 warranty but thinking I prefer BMW manufacturers warranty, just for piece of mind. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. |

I think I paid a little less for the power train warranty from south bay bmw and it ended up paying for itself. It covered all the main jobs like water pump/thermostat, etc. I did buy my car from there though idk if that makes a difference.

I paid much less at Pacific BMW and they offer a small discount if you mention that you're a E90Post member. Funny thing is that I don't take my car for service at their stealership. Their service department disappointed me multiple times ever since I bought my car there.

Thanks guys.
I stopped by Shelly BMW (Buena Park, CA) today to get another quote. They have offered the following: Gold - 6 yr/100k = $3270 Gold - 7 yr/100k = $3720 Platinum - 6 yr/100k = $3610 Platinum - 7 yr/100k = $4130 I find it interesting that Crevier didn't even offer me the 100k miles option and yet their prices are higher. I understood that CA registered BMWs are not eligible to purchase BMW warranty from out of state dealers but maybe I'm mistaken. I will email Jeff nonetheless. Can't hurt, right? I'll also be emailing a few other Socal Dealers as suggested by your guys' feedback. Pacific BMW South Bay BMW McKenna BMW Sterling BMW BMW of Ontario Will update with quotes I receive. |

What did Route 66 quote you? I haven't heard anything bad from them in the forum so far so I assume they're a legit third party warranty.

You are not committed to the stealership that you bought the extended warranty from.

I bought my Fidelity exclusionary warranty 6/72k from Christine Takla at Pacific Porche. Clock starts when you sign the contract and not from the car's first in service date.

Exclusionary coverage is the best. It pretty must lists what is NOT covered versus lower end plans that list what is covered. Not all plans are exclusionary, so make sure you know what you are buying.
I dug around on the internet and it looks like she is at Circle Porsche. I can't remember what I paid, it was the lowest I had found when I shopped around. |
