Like the title says I am about to order an m3 once 2016 pricing is released but am wondering if the m2 will be cheaper on a lease. Given m3 has already been out for a year it may be easier to get a better residual and discount on an m3... What are the estimates on any discounts on the m2 or how bad residuals will be....

There is no discounts on M2 and they are super rare pups, I just purchased mine last week and after searching every BMW dealer for the one I wanted, I managed to get it @ Invoice pricing, they had to do a dealer trade for it so they can give me the deal.

We're talking about the M2 here, hombre...not the M235i.

Why wait for the 16 model? You'll get a better deal taking one of the last 2015 pre LCI ones, this is what I've just done and no regrets for the sake of some slightly different rear lights!

Everyone is sold out of 2015s from what I hear... I called 2 dealers and they have a list started for 2016s... Am I wrong? They told me 2015 production is sold out

OK...what are we talking about here??? The M2 will debut as a 2016 year model so no 2015 M2 has ever existed.

If you are referring to the M235i then many dealers still have 2015s coming in and available for sale and you are also on the wrong forum
Sorry... Waiting for m2 or ordering m3 is the topic.. Dealers out of m3 allocations

Oh.. Didn't realise this, mine went through on the 21st of this month for July delivery. Must be one of the very last!

What about a car sitting in stock somewhere?

We don't know starting price of the M2, but if I had to guess, it would be $50k-ish...

If you could get the M3 at 7% off MSRP and had to pay sticker for the M2, then they'd be about the same price. Some people are getting ED invoice plus $1-2k, which would make the M3 cheaper.

Unless you have rare color requirement or want to do EU delivery, just get the car the your dealer can search within the network. You'll get a better discount on the 2015. Don't spend your whole life waiting for a future product or you'll be stuck the mindset of not being happy with what you have. There's not enough changes in 2016 to wait. There will always be something new that will "soon to be released." What I can tell you is you'll never find one M driver on the road without a smile on his/her face.

My advice is get in an M3 now, decide on M2 later when your lease is up. I switched from Infiniti/Acura/Merc/Evo to BMW 6yrs ago, there's no regrets. You will not own another inferior brand again.

If you want to order your car, do EU delivery. They'll discount your car heavily so you could afford your trip to Europe. Also, sign up for BMW CCA. $50 annual membership gets you access to track days, service discount, and $1000 rebate on your M3 (check with your dealer first).

Don't do what I did and waited 5yrs before joining the BMW CCA. The crowd is so much different from the import scene. The track days are just awesome. People are missing out if they don't track a BMW, big time.

Great post!

I do think the BMW CCA discount is only $500 now though.

Personally, if I'm getting an F80, I'd at least wait for LCI. It's literally around the corner.

It's one thing to be able to get out of a lease at the end, but I know I'm planning to buy the car. Not to mention this will be my first ever brand new car, so I'll wait as long as I have to to be 100% sure. Got other toys to play with until I make that decision.

P.S. Also, if you are trying to get a discount via CCA, you have to be a member for at least 1 year. Just something to keep in mind!

BMW FS will of course set the residuals based on many factors but the M2 will be even more niche than the M3 and M4. The first year of any car is the worst time to lease because the finance company will always be conservative in predicting the residuals to ensure that they are not overestimating the value. On top of that you will see the residuals lower for cars that have really high demand, we all know that the M2 is going to be very popular for that first year or so unless BMW overproduces them (not likely) so probably best to wait and see on M2 residuals.

Nice ride.
Don't mean to sound inhospitable or anything; but, are you sure you're on the right forum?

Well I've spent the last year with the number 1 M2 slot at my dealers, so I still like to keep an eye on things as they (painfully slowly) progress, and this topic is regarding the M3 anyways
