Lowering tools

I've plucked up the courage and decided to lower my car with H&R sports, after reading lots of threads it looks straightforward so I'm doing it myself but I'm a little concerned about the front top strut mounts.

Is there a tool that will make getting them off easy, all the threads I've looked at have had some sort of macgyvered tool used.

There's also no proper DIY guide anywhere that show how to do this job so I'm going to put one together.

TIA.

If i remember correctly there is a thread here saying all the tools you need. I also just replaced my springs and it was easy, i think the hardest part for me is to replace the front springs itself from the shocks. Anyhow as for your question about front top hat, I just used spark plug socket to hold the hex inside.
It would be a lot easier for you if you loosen the top hat nut already while the assembly is still attached on the car. then do the same when you put them back on, tighten the top hat hand tight using the spark plug socket and the hex, this will be enough for you to torque the top hat later without holding the hex when you put the assembly back to the car.
Hope this helped.

You probably could get away with just the 3/8 socket set too keep costs down.

Also I would pick up Allen drivers not the wrenches. And def not the balled tip Allen drivers.

It's 18 or 17. Can't remember. I posted it in another thread that was asking similar question.

Invest in a cordless impact driver. It negates the need for contraptions. Just compress the spring and back the nut off with the driver. Makes the job a much faster one with fewer expletives.
